It's ecsactly what the most of these artists on the CD are trying to tell. It's probably a thing that Holden doesn't even know

And that's why this CD sounds uneasy for any minimal/techno/IDM-listener. It's just a thing DJ's would do to to give "prog" a new meaning. And with every attempt, they make shittier music and bad consepts imo

i see what u mean and i can understand it totally. I like minimal too sometimes so i know perfectly what u mean. And i agree with you that its nothing out of this world or not something that will be remembered as Balance 005. Nonetheless this is a good compilation IMO

It was listed on Amazon as an import with a release of 3/27/06, then switched almost on that day to 4/11/06, now they're saying it'll take 4-6 weeks to ship.

I haven't heard this at all and have stopped by a few record stores in NYC hoping they'd have the import, but no luck. It's really getting annoying. Would anyone like to share for the next 4-6 weeks? I'm going to be quite pissed if I wait all this time and don't like the CD.

Finally just received the CD from Amazon UK along with Alex Smoke's new disc. Only cost be 23 pounds ($42.70), including shipping, which was cheaper than buying both in the US and waiting 4-6 weeks for Holden like the Amazon site says. I finally got ahold of this a few weeks ago and liked it upon first listen. That said, I think this gets better with each listen. CD 2 is just amazing for listening throughout the day.

I'm curious to see how he'll be tomorrow night, though, as it doesn't really strike me as typical dance club music.

i actually just saw him at vision in chicago on saturday night. his set was only from 3-5am, but it was interesting no less. very smooth, quieter/minimal and a bit too slow imo. the first half of his set was softer, but then it picked up with petter - some polyphony. after that the energy lifted and more of the crowd got into it.

in all honesty, his style on balance 005 is way more club appropriate.. unless its a minimal, slow, semi-lame atmosphere all night long until the last hour. just not my cup of tea.

razzi.

Got mine yesterday for SGD49.90... I'm so sad that the case was cracked when I opened the wrap.

I haven't heard much from James Hodlen, but since when did he start mixing IDM? (Not that I'm complaining BTW, so far I find this to be an interesting compilation)
