I dunno, this is something I really highly doubt will happen. Meh, I might be wrong, but I cannot see something like this passing for all drivers. There would be a protest, or it wouldn't get enforced.

Anyway, I think Jay is just hyper-paranoid about the banning thing. I agree that they have been a little ban-nutty lately, but I don't think things have gotten too ridiculous yet.

I suppose we'll see wont we?

i dont think anyone has the balls to protest about something like this cos people tend to think "hell im too cool to fight to listen to the radio...u shitting me??? i aint gonna be seen with them picket signs and walkin in circles".

as much as jay's million and one threads about ontario politics bug me for being one too many, u gotta admit. this is reality and he actually points out stuff that wouldnt strike us.

however that being said, this ban on novice drivers listening to music might be rather good....wont have those stupid 16-18 y/o kids who were just given the keys to their own car or borrowed daddy's car to blare their music on the streets and annoy innocent bystanders

Using cellphones while driving is still legal, right?

Exactly. I don't know why mp3 players are an issue when the cellphone problem is getting out of control. I've seen people drifting from lane to lane, making illegal turns, not noticing the color of the trafficlights and many other hazardous situations while they were on their celly.

And we're talking about mp3 players?

On a somewhat related note.

I was standing at the corner of a busy intersection, waiting for the walk light so that I could cross. The light going the other way turned red, and was red for at least a full 2 seconds, so I stepped out onto the street to cross, and ZOOOOM!

A red convertible drove through the red light and got so close to hitting me that some people walking behind me came running up and asked if his side mirror had clipped me.

I was pretty shocked, so I kinda brushed it off and crossed the road, but holy shit!! I almost became road kill.

I wish I had gotten the guys license plate.
