Yeah I've been hearing that too. Personally, I love the guy. He's the greatest football/soccer player produced by the States; he's played in the US and in Europe; he's played in 3 World Cups; and he's smart, brash, straight-forward and funny to boot.

On a different note, I've heard Klinsmann's name being tossed around today for the job as well

I think that a characteristic of the US is to never go along with the rest of the world. For example, the metric system, amongst others.

but yeah we need to get another Bora Milononovanivitovic ( ) European type of guy to lead the U.S again. We tried to stay within the country with Sampson and Arena and while Sampson was a total fuck up, Arena was not that bad but it is time for a change and a whole new more serious attitude for this team.
Wynalda has no coaching experience so I dont see why you guys like him that much to jump all the way to the national team just like that...sure he talks a good game on tv but thats not enough

yea i dont know about wynalda's coaching experience. and i know klinsman's name is being talked about but i doubt he would want to take over this program. we need someone with international experience and can get us to the next level. arena did a good job in his first seven years but this year was a complete disaster.

I don't understand how people don't get this. It is not the same as the metric system, though that won't happen either, but at least there have been past movements, particularly from the science community.

In the US, there is already another sport called football. One that, whether I like it or not, is more popular and has more history in the US than soccer. It's not really America's fault, either, as the English created the soccer term as a short way of saying "Association Football." We just adapted it because we took the game, too. We created our own football rules before this took off in our country.

They'd have to tell the whole country (and world that follows American football) that we're taking football's name and giving it to soccer, and now we'll call football something else. It's like renaming a country, and I think that the only way we'll start calling soccer "football" regularly in this country is if it we're conquered and the country is renamed first and we're commanded to adopt the new name (and American football is banned).

i think the US should get bianchi from argentina.

i would like to see an argentinean or brazilian coach take american futbol to the next level. we have atheletes, now we need a coach who knows how to run a team to compete at a WC level.

i don't want to see a european coach taking over our national team. this would insult me, and the rest of america who for once in our lives should demand the absolute best for ourselves.

America is close to the worst team in the world cup...

They get 3/12 spots in their region, 2 too many... America should stop worrying about athletes. They should get some players with some skill and footballing nous.

i still think america's best bang for the buck will be a real coach.

sure some players would help, but w/the kind of coaching we have we'll still be a joke, like france. they have some of the worlds best players, and look at how they are doing...

coach 1st, then maybe some players... i don't want to see to many foriengers on the US team. look at the european clubs, half the rosters on the big teams are made up of players from brazil, or argentina w/a couple of guys from eastern europe, africa, or asia. these clubs only have like two natives on the team, but they are bench warming for the foreigners. i would like to see americans playing.

why would south american coaches be better than europeans, and why would it insult you?

i do agree that what is lacking in USA is an experienced top manager.. and creative players, the team is very dull. growing great players is much harder than finding a great manager tho.
