People here dont realize that if LOL, one of the biggest nights of the year for dance music is not at capacity, then it's bad news for dance music in Toronto in general. People shouldnt be celebrating that fewer people are interested in attending a dance music event as this just means to me that the scene has shrunken here.

AFIK there wasnt a hell of a lot else going on in TO last night was there?

Yup. This was the first LoL I missed. Also the first time I missed Armin in a long, long time.

Well it was sold out on Ticketmaster. Lots of people were complaining that it was going to be pack so maybe it deterred people from coming?

Or Maybe the lineup was pretty spread out and caused multiple rooms to be decently packed instead of the Main room and KH to be crazy.

I never went upstairs at all so don't know what the Drink/Skybar was like, but getting around Guv/Orange Room/Gallery/KH wasn't bad at all. In the past I only remember having one entrance to Orange, through the tunnel, but last night you could just walk right into the OR under the stairs going up to the Drink. I always found the Tunnel area to be the worst but last night it was pretty good.

I have to say this was the best Guv all access event I have been in a real long time. The bouncers were good, the music was great I didn’t have too much trouble finding room to dance, although I did spend most of the night in tenet as there was tones of dancing room and you could breathe because there was no heat factor. But by far the best thing about this years LOL was the vibe it was just off the wall everybody was there to have a good time and enjoy the music.
My only problem was everyone was scattered all over the place witch is expected, so I got major case of A.D.D and I couldn’t stay in one room too long. The up side to that was I got too see most of the DJ’s and get a feel for every room, the down side was I didn’t really get into anyone’s set and didn’t get to appreciate what the DJ’s were doing. Caught some of 16 Bits set and I was really enjoying there sound but I have to agree that they did over loop a little. I did catch all of MSTRKRFT’S set as nothing could make miss them These guys never disappoint they always bring the hard rocking electro beats, I honestly could not stop dancing the entire time. After MSTRKRFT was done I honestly was so sore and tired that I needed a long sit just so I could get the feeling back in my legs. After that it was back to wonder mode, saw some of SVD set and even though I’m not a fan of trance I really enjoy his tech-trance sound. After that Danny T was rocking the main room with some hard beats. I was a little disappointed with what I herd, don’t get me wrong he was playing awesome but the time I was there I would classify what he was playing as techno and I was hoping for some dark dirty tribal oh well. The funniest thing that happened all night is when Danny got on the mic and told all Paparazzi to stop taking pics of him and enjoy the music and just dance, that was just awesome a true raver The 317 crew was chilling in the KH so I got to see a little bit oh Yahels set and I didn’t really dig his style it was pretty meh I think it was just too much of a switch from Danny T but to each their own. Left a short while after and it was off to CZ for some more shenanigans.
It was super awesome seeing everyone, the TA’s make every party extra special <3!

I actually stuck around for Yahel's set, mostly because I'm not too sure I'd ever get the chance to enjoy him live ever again. He dropped a lot of good classic trance tunes (mostly his productions and remixes as far as I can recall) which I've been dying for, so I was a happy guy. His live singer (forget her name, but her voice was as beautiful as she was) was a nice addition to his set. Hearing Voyage in a club was fuckin awesome too!

My favourite set of the night was Armin's for sure, yes I know a lot of people rag on him for being too much of a show-off, being too commercial, etc... but come on, I've never seen the crowd at Kool Haus as happy as they were while he was on. EVERYONE in there was bouncing around having the time of their lives.

I was thinking about this last night actually... and it's nail on the head...

Sander played waaaay too underground for people I think! Control Freak was probably the only commercial track he dropped. There were quite a few other recognizable ones, like Riff, Fly to Colours, Lemon Tree, The Perspective Space, Morfo... but those are pretty much all tracks that only trainspotters might be able to catch.
His sound was really dark, hard and techy. I didn't know lots of them, and that's what I loved the most. I've been listeneing to him for years and is EASILY my favorite dj in the world. I try to listen to everything he puts out (singles & sets) and I'd have to say his set was very reminiscent of his early Identity mixes, with a few notable tracks like I listed before. Lots of new stuff I never heard before, and that was one of the best parts... no one knew what to expect, and that's probably why people were a little disappointed.
To each their own... but he still OWNED me

ps, I'm still looking for a couple ID's to my vids on page 11

Perhaps if they had just stuck to capacity last year, instead of cramming the place so full that you couldn't move let alone dance, then maybe, just maybe, so many people wouldn't have been put off going this year.

With respect to the mechanics of the situation, this year was massive improvement over last year as it actually could be enjoyed before 3am when people finally give up, go home, and the space increases.
