Unfortunately, most people will never understand this concept. Nothing is ever good enough, and Insomniac/Giant/whoever will never be able to please everyone. Too many people act like they should be catered to. I just make sure I arrive early every time I go to an event..it's not that complicated. Show up early, check out the opening DJ(s), never worry about lines..no stress. |
Not at this event. I know of someone who arrived at noon and still waited 2 hours (after the gates opened) to get in. Sorry, a 3+ hour line is unacceptable. Demanding a shorter line isn't unreasonable.

Sorry to add to the 17 page thread!
But I finally feel like writing my review the Thursday after EDC.
Too freaking tired to do it before, and I was babysitting yesterday.
The line was ridiculous but cut in line around 4:30PM with a friend who had gotten there at noon. Once I got in, it was magic.
It was my 3rd EDC & I went with a friend & her boyfriend, and quickly decided to give up on looking for trying to meetup with anyone else, it really hard to do at any massive, and with this many people I decided it was going to be too difficult.
I liked Menno I was dancing to him and thought his set was far too short! I have danced in the DJ booth right next Menno at a club in DC once so it was very different to see him in a festival!
I ran off to the CosmicMeadows, house area, and danced to some Reza, and I really liked the setup and area, and some sick dance moves and people who were really into the music over there .
I had never seen Eddie Haliwell and I enjoyed his set, it was groovy, but it was nothing special. He scratched a bunch, that definitely stuck out in my mind since I have never heard a big house or trance DJ actually scratch before .
I heard a tiny bit of Bennassi, it was not as good as previous sets of his I have seen in clubs in DC (which were quite good actually).
So left Benassi early and got lost trying to find Rabbit in the Moon for like an hour! On the way I ran into some African drummers, and got really caught up dancing to them for a couple of minutes
Oh man Rabbit in the Moon rocked my socks! I had never seen them before. They had these like 4 platform thingies which girls got up to dance on, and I *can never* resist these things. So i got up there and go-go danced on the one in the back right during Rabbit in the Moon. Lol I tried to talk to the 3 other girls up there dancing with me but none of them spoke English! They all spoke some Eastern Euro languages. Rabbit in the Moon was amazing especially because of their sick visuals!
I enjoyed Moby although I have seen him play much better and it was an ok/good set, but he played some sweet classics that made me feel all nostalgic and great inside and that got me grooving!
Well anyhow at some point, I randomly ran into Henry V & only go to say hi for a few moments near the house area. I ran into Sweetcandygirl in the bleachers during the day. I hadn't seen these to for 2 years since the TA party that year. And I ran into Josh Allen for the first time near one of the beer booths.
I randomly ran into a friend of mine that I raved with last week near the beer booth TWICE! First time they went to the DnB area, and I said I would see them at the afterparty, and I ran into them around the same area during Moby's set.
Waiting to go to the bathroom wasn't too bad, since many of us were dancing waiting in line for the porta potties. Only at raves do people party in line for the bathroom :P Lol, I drank beer and made a big loop drunkenly around the sports arena just dancing around and met up with my friends near the beer again.
I was dancing in the main area for most of the party. We were in the first 1/3 of the arena during Moby but people started getting so shovey and pushy that we decided to go to the bleachers so we would feel more comfortable. We joined my friend and were dancing the first row of the bleachers on the left side of the arena near the front. This was my favorite part of the party .
The lines up the stairs to the DnB section were absolutely ridiculous and chaos. So my friends & I were *literally* helping pull people up above the wall, so they could get up the stairs and helping people get down the wall. Lol we did this for dozens of people because it was the PLURry thing to do, it would have taken them at least 15-30 minutes longer if we hadn't helped them up.
Then PvD came on, but he didn't impress me much. His set was nothing special, and I left like 20-30 minutes early to beat the crowds.
Took a while to find our parked car, and then my friends took me to an afterparty called Daisies After Dark, not too far away. I enjoyed the music at this way more than the sets I saw at EDC, and danced the morning away even though I was tired from EDC.
After that I went to Sundaize, and danced and chilled pretty much all day there until sunset on Sunday. It was a great balance to EDC. So ya I ended up dancing from like 6PM Sat. start of EDC til like sunset Sunday and I had a blast! Lol and I saw Sweetcandygirl & Chris Soltis there too. All and all freaking amazing party & afterparties
I was contemplating not going to EDC, since I have seen most of the headliners DJ before and because it was so expensive but it was definitely worth it. The music in the main room wasn't all that great, but it sounds like the other areas fared very well and would have enjoyed the music more had i gone to see other DJs,
But the vibe at EDC and all the cool people I talked to made it completely worth it!
