No offense, but I don't really give a shit about what you (or your fellow Preserve Trance! Society members) think of my shitty taste. As a matter of fact, most of you here act like you are motherfucking music critics. Yet, if you are THAT educated, talented and overall fantastic, how come no one - except for your fellow Trance-gods on this sad, little forum - heard of you? Oh yeah, that's right - I forgot: that's a fault of Armin's and his fellow evil accomplices', who have been and are collectively trying to destroy Trance music. I'm sure that a winner's philosophy - way to go, champs!

You would think.

I have a friend at work that I introduced to Trance back in 2004. At the time I was listening to ISOS, Magik, ASOT compilations, Ferry Corsten and the likes. I have moved on since then, but this friend has not. Whenever we talk about it he even goes as far as give me the "well, Armin is the #1 DJ for a reason you now?" and "Armin is selling out stadiums...the DJs you listen to can hardly get 200 people together" arguments as to why he has better taste in EDM than me.

Sound familiar?

It was only a matter of time until you gave that idiotic argument, really. It sure took you a while, though. Now the question is how much are you going to take to say "let's see you do better!!!"?

And I don't listen to trance anymore by the way. Except for when I decide to give one of my old Trance compilations a listen every now and then. Mostly for nostalgic purposes.

They aren't bad songs -the first two are actually quite good compared to what the superstar DJs churn out on the regular- but clearly going through the epic-trance motions. The last one's about as generic as this stuff gets.

That is why you'll find a lot of former fans of this kind of stuff here at TA. They've grown tired of hearing the same kind of song over and over and over and over and over and over for the past 5-10 years. They're anxious to hear something fresh, and hence start exploring other genres.

Trust me, that will happen to you too.

Edit: Or you'll leave the scene altogether once the novelty runs out.

I may not agree with you on every point you made, but I do see it, so, thanks for a CIVILIZED response.

And I understand that most people here seem to be jaded with Trance as such, but I'm not. Or maybe not yet, as you pointed out. However, I've been listening to Trance for about 4-5 years now, and - up to this day - every time I give a try to most of the other EDM styles I just get bored. So, I may not agree, but I know how most of you on here must feel about Trance.

What exactly is my age? Appreciating 20 year old music doesn't require one to be 'old'.

Those tracks are all shit. They have the same kick and bass as every other trance track from the last couple of years, and the melodies are just as generic.

Your friend has a point. Although the fact that he listens to THE No. 1 DJ in the world doesn't make his taste "better" than yours. However, the fact that you listen to DJs that can barely fill up a basement doesn't make your taste better or more exquisite than his, either. Join us here, on earth, otherwise it may be a long and hard fall.

That statement is not true either, and is irrelevant. Just because that's his perception of let's say...Dyed Soundorom doesn't make it so. And even if it was, I could care less.

I've never claimed to be underground or obscure in my musical tastes. What I'm pointing out is the thickness and stubbornness of his demeanor.

The DJs & Producers I listen to are people with a strong passion for what they do and are in the "scene" (for lack of a better word) for just that. Not to be superstars, and ask for worship for hitting play on a CDJ and waiting for the 4 minute breakdown to end with their arms up in the air. They are much better musicians also, that can do more than use the same 4 kicks, drums, and synths in every track they make.

What fascinates me about all of you, my dear music critics and Preserve Trance! Society members, is that [16 pages of this thread later!] NONE of you can provide me with a TRANCE track from year 2009 that you like and consider, uhm... 'real' or 'proper', or 'quality' Trance. If you can't move on from what the Trance sound was like 5+ years ago, then maybe you should move on from Trance altogether, as so many of you claim you have. What I also don't get is why bash the today's Trance scene, if you simply aren't interested in it. I can't stand Minimal or Electro, or Drum and Bass, for instance, but I'm not going to waste my time by signing-up on the websites that cater to the fans of those styles and bitching about them constantly. MOVE the fuck ON. [I know that's what I'm going to do.] Good lord.

<--------- Notice this little date right here?

We didn't sign up yesterday to "hate on trance".

Is there any example of "minimal" that you can give that you hate? One that doesn't require you to google a YouTube video of Richie Hawtin?

Here you go.

Btw, most of us have "moved the fuck on". The collective whole of active TA users probably listens to a far more varied diet of music than you could ever dream of. There isn't good trance being produced consistently these days, thus why we're all "stuck" in the 90's.

"Here is another example, from 2007", said Domesticated in his previous post. Focus. And, once again, smoke a bit less.

(By the way, nothing special about this track - I'd give it 2.5 out of 5 stars.)
