listening to all the sets now... shit. i really shoulda gone to this. even the cosmic gate set is banging.

but i do have one question/complaint (gotta be atleast one right, even though i didnt even go)... why the fuck was sander the "special guest"? why not just put him on the flyer. he wasnt exclusive to ultra. and gareth is ranked him than him on the dj mag, so its not like sanders really the most special dj there anyway.. im just complaining because if that would of been announced prior i would of gone. instead i missed out. yes its still my fault in the end because it was my decision to not go, but why the promoters of this event dicked around with "special guest" bullshit when they didnt have to is what i dont understand. i dunno, did you guys get a discount on sanders fee or something? not using his name means you gotta pay him less? i dunno. thats probably not even true... i just dont understand what the point in keeping his name off the flyer was. and why was the armada logo on that one flyer? doesnt make sense either.

i know none of these questions will be answered. the promoters/organizers of this event have their money and are off and running now. but i still felt the need to ask...

well the armin rumor came from us. thats our bad. cant blame them for that. but honestly sander being cheaper that way is the only thing i can think of that makes any sense. but i dont even know if it works like that.

btw.. how was andy moor last night? im hoping that all the trance parties do good this year so they bring back more next year. so far the tuesday markus was insanely packed, the dip in pool party looks like it did good, cosmic gate yacht is sold out... so far it seems to be looking good... so yea.. how was it?

Well, several people claimed they were getting the Armin/Armada information from people organizing the event.

The whole "special guest" thing was just to up ticket sales. I don't think Sander was actually cheaper. No idea though. But I have a feeling they hoped the Armin frenzy sweepstakes would up tickets sales, and it did.

obviously i dont know what everyone was claiming but from the way i remember it going down... they announced "special guest" after tickets had already gone on sale and probably werent doing well in the first place which you could see if you kept track on the page views on the wanttickets page... everyone started speculating who it could be and some people said they wanted a big name like armin... at that time one of the promoters released a flyer that had the armada logo on it which made everyone think it was armin. the promoter even said something to the effect of "heres a hint." i think its earlier in this thread actually. at the same exact time on the dipin twitter there was some weird post listing all the djs who were already on the lineup as well as markus, armin, and sander. at that point people started speculating that all 3 would maybe show up. armin made the most sense because hes the ONLY one who was exclusive to ultra and the only name they wouldnt be allowed to put on the flyer. eventually everyone just thought it would be armin.

I headed to the party like at around 8-9. ( I got out of work late wanted to catch what I could ). ANyways I thought I knew where the National Hotel was, I passed it and didn't hear music so I heard some from the Shelborne, ended up getting in there for a bit till it closed. Good to hear this party was good though

To start I really respect the organizers for throwing this thing together and taking a chance at a trance pool party. Turnout wasnt there but I believe its because they did not advertise Sander on the flyer and it was a first time event and not an annual. Not sure why Sander wasnt allowed to be listed since he wasnt exclusive like what we thought was going to be the guest - armin. Be pretty BS if the people who posted it was offical armin was the one are the promoters themselves to get more attendance - never know but giving them benefit of the doubt. Sean Tyas destroyed it - favorite set there. Blank and Jones - wtf guys! I mean really... WTF! Worst set I have ever heard from a trance group. They catered to the miami pool theme and didnt bother playing their style at all - and no nnot tlaking about their old style but even their new one. Total garbage. Never seeing them again or at least not in a while and def not for an outdoor event in miami non the less. Cosmic gate and menno were good. Gareth Emery didnt do his thing either i think and catered to the pool party theme i think - whereas i thought his set at anjuna was the best. Had to miss sander's set to get ready for the night but sure it was good. I liked the stage placement - seemed they took or considered my advice beforehand and didnt block the pool off like beatport had. Sound was great though volume issues prevented them from keeping it as loud as it was at the start. Though it really hurt them cause it got to the point of being terribly quiet where you couldnt hear shit unless you were near the speakers. Overall hope they do this event next year and for their sake they book the artists before ultra so they can list them to get better attendance.

Sorry for the delayed response - would have loved to get on and answer questions sooner, but just got back to Chicago from Miami and frankly, WMC is A LOT of running around.

I'm NOT a promoter who just throws parties to take the money and run. I wanted to do something with DiP iN that hadn't been done before and take the concept of the pool party to a new level. Case in point - The Void Acoustic Sound System was driven in by the AIS team from Chicago specifically for this party as it is hands down one of the most beautiful systems I have ever worked with both sound-wise and aesthetically. We also went out of our way to have original artwork created specifically for the event by a very talented designer - Nico Heins.

The Armada logo was mistakenly placed on ONE eflyer that was literally up on the Facebook page for one hour in the beginning before we yanked it and replaced it with one that excluded the logo. In regards to the lineup - Sander was always on the table but there was a holdup in finalizing it and we wanted to get the word out, so we launched promotions. When it was determined that he was only available as a 'Special Guest' we took him because we wanted him to play, period. It wasn't about money or ticket sales, it was about great music. At this point someone on the board who had nabbed the flyer with the Armada logo (during the ONE HOUR it was up) posted it here and the rumors began flying. We never said it was Armin, and to be honest I was a bit saddened because I was pretty sure it meant he wouldn't make it over to us and I had really hoped to have a chance to see him.

Pat - if you go back in this thread I think you'll note that after you said you wouldn't come if Sander wasn't playing I DID tell you you'd want to make it. I tried to give you a hint, that's really all I could do.

People who claimed they got the Armin info from us are full of crap. One of the people who posted it here spoke with me personally on the phone an hour before and I can tell you with absolute certainty - he got no such information from me. DJ Row who assisted us with the event and who works closely with me here at Vision in Chicago had no idea until Sander walked in.

And finally - to Element-y and everyone else who got excited about the event and spent your time here and everywhere else talking it up. Thank you. It is because of people like you that we are able to do something we love.

That said, Time Slot decisions were made by artist management and staging decisions were made by myself. Thank you for your input, but as I mentioned before I DO do this for a living =)

Hope those of you who made it out this year had a fantastic time and yes, it WILL be happening next year with much, much further notice so keep your eyes peeled for further news.
