IMO:
Acid should not be used as a (sub)genre, for the same reason the supersaw shouldn't be used to point at a subgenre of trance. Subgenres suck.
Acid can be used to describe a certain sound used in tracks, but those tracks can belong to different genres as is pretty obvious listing to the various tracks posted till now.
