Famously choke-at-the-end England versus this World Cup's "turn it on in the last thirty minutes to win" Argentina. Maybe we could have predicted this, lol.

Disappointing. I don't think this Argentina side is beating Spain, though.

Yep, classic England. Take the lead, stop trying to play, retreat into a defensive shell, lose.
I think Scaloni deserves credit though. He completely changed Argentina's system in the last hydration break and suddenly they were getting so much play down the right hand side. Sure enough, both goals came from that side. And the magic man with two more assists, of course.
I think Thomas Tuchel will get hammered in the English press for going defensive in that same hydration break. We went to five at the back and just invited Argentina to bombard us. It was a game decided by two managers and two contrary sets of substitutions. Argentina's worked, ours completely failed.
Was Messi always playing wide? I was in and out of consciousness during the first half but the quality of his passes into the box when I was alert was pretty good. It was inevitable

Rooting for Spain!!! I'm bad luck though. Every team I ever root for ends up losing. So in a way... Go Argentina??

You're right, we grieve World Cup eliminations as if the whole state of Pernambuco had been flattened by a meteor, and it's actually kind of funny when you put it in perspective: only Germany have reached the finals more often than we have (and Argentina has just caught up with us), both having won fewer times than we have; we've topped our groups every single time this century; and this is the first time we failed to reach the quarterfinals since 1990. Of course it would be best to reach the finals a bit more often, but we've stalled at a somewhat high level, which definitely doesn't match our gloom.

As for the final, it's nearly a coin flip, with Spain having the slightest of edges. No me gusta. No me gusta at all. May Adidas make the difference

This is like the Leafs blowing a 3 goal lead in the last 10 minutes of a Game 7.
