instead of having to dig thru a record case looking for the next song to play, he has them all there on his laptop ready to play. Have it fed into the 'vinyl' thingy, and babam!

he doesnt really have to turn his back on the crowd often, and hence he has more time to sign autographs!

What an amazing show. Myself and the rest of the detroit tas had an amazing time for both armin and pvd. I cant remember half the people i met, but i know i ran into diginut, time2burn, tuss, the_broad (your ass is famous in detroit), and the rest is a blur.... thanks to tatgirl for showin us a good time both nights as well. We should be back in november for picotto...
btw we had some 110+ TAs and no one has come up with a tracklist for either armin or pvd???

In line, my friend and I talked to two Asian dudes from Detroit that were on tranceaddict. The one guy had a pack of menthol ciggies and we were commenting on the rape everyone gets before entering the club. Funny guys....was it you?

As for the tracklist....I wanna know too, especially that first track. Anybody know it please?

I agree with signing pieces of paper/trash and money. I mean come ON, you know the dj is there. I mean what you going to go and frame your piece of tissue paper with his signature on it? Pffffft. Lame...
Meanwhile those of us there that had REAL things for Paul to sign, did indeed get them signed. Got my Global DvD and POD double cd's signed. Woooooooot. As for PvD's first opening track, it was: Digital Pressure - Aftershokk

I didn't get anything signed? Why? because I stayed at my friend's house the night before since I forgot my keys. We got on the 401 at 6 and nobody was at my house to let me in...hence, I couldn't grab my POD or Out there and Back. Oh well...my friend got his POD signed. I will next time.

Well I have to say that this was a great night and if anything, a good indication that there is life after Goldclub. Being that most of the big events at the Guvernment / Kool Haus complex have been sponsered by them and have been excellent productions over the last few years, I was curious to see what we could expect from the Guvernment doing things on their own. Props to them for impressing us this night and really putting on a world-class show that really was worthy of hosting the return of Paul Van Dyk after all these years.

Judging by the amount of people crammed into the Kool Haus, it was easy to see the result of having a huge fan base, as PVD has here, and not having him spin here for awhile. It definitely equalled a ton of people coming out to party hard on the last long weekend of the year. The Kool Haus was done up with some very nice visuals being projected onto cubes hung from the ceiling. Dancers were setup on platforms in various corners of the room with their performances being shot and projected on screens behind them which made for some very cool effects. The lighting for the stage and crowd was setup with a very large festival feel which definitely added to PVD's performance. Mark Oliver warmed things up nicely as he did the night before for Armin though playing slightly harder tracks. This proved to be effective as this is how PVD started into his set as well. It truly was amazing to see all the hands in the air people going wild during his set. It was definitely a throwback to the old days of warehouse parties when we used to get those huge crowds out. I don't think I've seen this kind of vibe or size of crowd since maybe Tiesto played there a couple of years back. PVD worked the decks expertly taking us through some of his older work and mixing in some of the new tracks from his latest album along with some of the great trancer tunes out right now. After his 3 hour (and a bit) set, Mark came back on and closed with another excellent set.

Though the night was so good in the Kool Haus we decided to check out the Guvernment to see how Deep Dish was doing over there. Guvernment was packed and was full-on into the lasers and lighting that we've come to expect. Deep Dish at this point (5ish) was playing a sort of interesting set though nothing that would make you jump up, dance and go crazy. Though as always they entertained with some interesting mixes of popular songs and their excellent mixing which we've come to expect from them.

All in all, a great night giving hope to future events at Guvernment having great production value. On a side note, I also have to give them credit for doing their best to continue enforcing the keeping of shirts on the guys. This was always a major pain here so its good to see them taking the rest of us into account.

The first PvD track was Digital Pressure - Aftershokk. He has started off almost all of his recent sets with it.

glad to see you all had fun and from what i read.....Paul was amazing. i can ashure you that he was just as good @ Glow the night before........i cant believe all the noobs that posted negative reviews from Glow!!! how the shit can people bitch about it being sooooo packed when they know its going to be like that anyways then they bash Paul for playing a predictable set......hello.....hes on his Reflections Tour!!! anyways my pictures from that night will be posted on www.trance365.com along with my review.

I Love Paul Van Dyk! He is a professional, world class DJ. Everyone is going on about him signing money and getting him to sign money! To be completely honest, when I first saw people doing it I thought "what the fuck?" Why would you want him to sign your money? Is that some cheap investment trick?

I thought about it after and said to myself: "I Want PVD To Sign My 20 Dollar Bill!" I had this romantic little notion in my head that once I got his signature, I would write the date on the bill, print his name and then trade it in for gas and a bag of chips at the pumps! I would send my little message in a bottle that PVD was a name worth circulating through the spread of the fiat currency.

That same dollar bill might reach the hands of some kid, somewhere in this country, maybe some inquisitive adult, that would take it and say: "Who is Paul Van Dyk?" That would have been Über-Cool!

If he had not scribbled all over it then I might be enjoying this feeling now! :P After holding up this stupid colourful piece of paper for 30 minutes, I had to let out a big laugh! Shit on me I guess!

Basically, I think everyone is going a little overboard with the significance of getting him to sign on money, scrap paper, or their used bubble gum wrappers! How is it disrespectful to ask anyone for their signature? It is implicitly a sign of respect to even ask, regardless of the medium.

Being someone who wouldn't normally ask for a signature, I think I've learn't that the next time PVD comes to town, I'm going to bring along a Vandit shirt to get it signed. Something more memorable that a scribble on a colorful piece of paper!
