Not one headliner we have booked was American (except for Dinaire), all international DJs... We know very well how the game is played, and yes, we are aware of when it has gone wrong, but at the time (April 2007, not "two years ago" like you say in your "yes me to death cos I need support" thread in the Toronto forums), we reached out to promoters in the area to pool in efforts to pay for your oh-so-necessary 1500$ work permit, and the only response I got was "Dead-who?... Never heard of him, anyone else you guys need to have double booked?" Reality check for you, but that's how the business is. If an artist wants to "spread his music to a new market", when they're at a low and underground level in their career, they do what they need to do that.
That's funny. I can name at least 6 American promoters and DJs who have given me a high-five (in PM, Myspace message, or IM form) and nod of agreement for mouthing you off like this, so you people out there better believe this isn't an isolated case. I won't name them though, they have much more to lose. One thing you need to understand is that we are an independent promotion group. We work with independent venues, and bring in (for the most part; of course some parties don't always deliver) an independent, refreshing, and EDM-knowledgeable crowd. Being "unprofessional" by speaking about all of this on a forum is nothing that I really care about. You're the bigtime producer now, and at the end of the day, we're regular people just like everyone on this forum: we're just regular people that love EDM and put our own hard-earned money to put on parties. I think one of the beauties in the New York scene is the emergence of independent promoters like me (and guys who do their job 50-100 times better and more consistent than me)... The amount of independent parties is what this city's all about. Back to the point though.. so, me being a "regular EDM person", I have opinions, views, and like a "regular person", I call them out when they need to be, at no loss to my "professionalism".

again bringing back some stuff up that needs to be mentioned...Marcello i love your music and what you do, your an amazing and respectable dj but truly this time i think you took it too far, i dont exactly know the situation but its funny that you say that he's rallying his people while your here doing the exact same thing by getting attention from something that should have never surfaced on a forum to begin with... I don't want to have to say this but i hope your not letting your fame or ego get into your head because i think you are smarter then that. And sure deadmau has an odd sense of humor but i think both of you should have made an effort to not speak about this publicly its unprofessional on both parts.

well it's posted in a public forum now isn't it? so your quite mistaken, i have opinions just as much as you do. Yes i don't know the whole situation but i did read most of what was going on enough for me to come up with my conclusions, if he wanted this matter to be private then he wouldn't have brought this up right?
I'm well aware he's not that kind of a person i was just making an assumption on what i was reading. But I think if Marcello has something to say he'll let me know directly, thank you |
Hey Pete, no worries, nothing taken to offense haha... I see your point and yes, I'll be the first to admit, it went way outta control, very regrettable... And I'm not sure it makes any difference, but this is one of the few cases that it's a very negative thing to be both DJ and promoter... Things were posted on the promo screen name simply because it was issue we had on the promotion side of things... Had I never been in the business of booking international DJs, I guess this problem would have never creeped out of my mouth... I can assure you that it has nothing to do with ego on my part or anything else of the like... I respect your views and can assure you there's no ego involved, just a little annoyance that happened to slip out of mouth... You were one of the first people to come to my very first gigs when I was like 16, 17 haha... So I value your opinion and take them to heart... Hope to see you out soon, brotha!!
