that was part of the fun of the older generation VA or analog. Synths like the waldorf pulse, sh101 , nord2 all have a very distinctive sound.

Why does it bother people when other people want to get new gear anyway? Whenever someone talks about getting a new synth you always see all this, "But you don't *need* that!"

Same reason people feel the need to "call someone out" when they post a picture of a nice studio but choose not to share their music.

O U HAS ALL TAHT GEARS BUT U PROBLY SUK AT MAKE MUSICS!11

Kindergarten level jealousy.

Wow so I will finally take the time to thank Stephen for his recommendation.
After reading some posts about the virus oscillators sucking naturally I started to get worried but after hearing it for myself today in my own hands in my own studio I LOVE IT.

If theres a lot of synths out there that sound "better", that actually makes me even happier cause I could not imagine even needing that level of sonic power.
I spent about 2 hours going through presets (almost blew my speakers opening some filters, Virus seems a lot more dynamic then anything I've used so far) and was extremely impressed.
The basses are fat, perhaps too fat, nothing some proper equal cant fix, but they DO have a very solid character I dont remember hearing in a lot of software. Almost like you can hit the sound with a bat and the bat would break. Again, this could just be all in my head.

The acid sounds are INSANE, I'm sorry but I have never heard any acid sounds like this on software. Maybe its just the fx but they scream with energy, some of my favs are def the acid sounds.
Leads are the reason I got the virus, exactly what I was expecting so I'm pleased with that.
Pads are lush and fat, a few presets oddly seemed like direct replicas from Nexus. I think they had the same exact names too which was funny.

Now, the programming.
The interface is really wonderful, laid out extremely simple and believe it or not I feel more comfortable with the virus interface then when I first started messing around with z3ta. Or maybe its just a learning curve because z3ta was the first real syth I learned to program.
Whatever the case, I do not feel programming is gonna be an issue at all, the TI interface makes it too familiar when you're already use to software, so its really great. I just didnt feel intimidated by it at all, which I was expecting to feel, so I'm happy about that too.

I still have to say the fxs are something completely new to me. There is fx the virus has that I have NO CLUE what they do, I basically made a simple saw/square bass, and started routing it through all sorts of different fx, its AMAZING by just using the fx alone, how many different sonic variations you can get. The fxs are currently what I'm reading about now, cause its the only thing that really seems new to me.
The only 2 problems I need to solve are everytime FL loops back to the begining of a new bar, theres a very slight delay that you can here when the bar loops. This never happened with my xio so Im not sure what it is.
Then the other problem is the delay compensation, which I can work around but I still need the update of FL 9 to work on my PC before I really fix that.
So far though I'm more please then I expected to be. I can't see ever needing another piece of kit, maybe a small analog synth down the road, but right now its the farthest thing from my mind. Virus really sounds just outright beautiful and inspiring.

So far thats my take on it, and I read a lot of issues with people getting the virus to fit into a mix, I'm not seeing how thats a problem at all. Thats what equalizers were made for imo, and I have not noticed an issue yet at least. Ok back to playing.. soon I'll be getting up demos, just not for a few more days till I get a better feel for everything..

Ok let me take back what I said.

I'm actually rather dissappointed in the TI performance at this point I'm seriously considering a refund.

The virus is great, its the software that fvckn sucks. Because so much of the overall functionality relies on the software, its making the virus a bitch to work with.

The "out of sync" problem is ridiculous. Every single patch I play, no matter what, 3-4 seconds after EVERY patch plays it falls out of sync and you have to stop and start over, it makes it virtually impossible to get anything done, you cant even play a one bar lead line without the last half of the bar going into complete disarray. Its a mess.

The software is EXTREMELY buggy. And this actually seems like a norm with a lot of people if you visit the infekted forums. Everyone seems to be in some fantasy world over there where they keep hoping the next update is going to fix it, but if you look closely NONE of the past updates have done shit about it, so wtf, why even keep the virus?

Its pretty funny that I had less bs to deal with using my crappy xiosynth. I have no idea whats going on, or if the general state of my computer is causing this, but I'm not sure what to do. What pisses me off is everytime I start FL, the virus seems to randomly choose when it wants to be found. Sometimes the vst can't find hardware, but its plugged in like just before, and other times if finds it. Sometimes it finds the virus but now it wont find my midi controller. This is a mess, my midi controller is not even working right. I'm gonna dedicate this first week to seeing how many of these bugs I can fix, but come next week if its still acting like this by by virus.
Theres no point of having great sounds if the integration works at 25% capacity. Stephen are you having problems like this?

I've had the "out of sync" problem a few times, but basically all I have to do is stop and start the track once or twice and it goes away. It usually happens when I stop and start the track real fast. Just let the CPU meters calm down a bit, and its fine. Its uncommon at best.

Also, DO NOT plug the TI into a USB Hub. Access is very specific about this.

I've only had the sync problem when using the Virus' arps and, like Eric, I tend to get it when I start/stop in quick succession and, particulalry, when I start in the middle of an arp sequence, rather than at the beginning (i.e., on a trigger note).
