What an Epic weekend.
Saturday daytime we went to Wet Republic. The opening DJ, whoever it was, was easily the best. Cedric and Roger were meh. Cedric played the same track twice and then I think Roger played it again lol. Had to leave at 4:30 so we never got to see Victor Calderone. VERY douchey crowd but we hung out with some cool people and had a great time. No line issues. Pretty much just walked right in with our presales.
Saturday night was time for Rain. The uber packed club Oakenfold weren't working for me so I went out to the pool and found some amazing music being played. No idea who it was yet again but a bunch of friends ended up out there dancing our asses off. Great music, friends, cool breeze = WIN! Once Markus came on it was time to brave Rain. Place a packed and going off and Markus delivered a banging set. Only complaint was it was under 2 hours.
Sunday day was Plams pool party time with a shitload of friends. Yet again, the opening DJ delivered the best set. I think it was Franco Fabi. But just perfect pool party music. Was really looking forward to Tenaglia but he was a little too serious/dark for the party IMO. Not bad by any means though. The music was 1000X better than last year with the exception of Jordon delivering a great set last year. I guess there were some sound issues as some friends said that every time the bass hit, the speakers would cut out in the area they were at. I didn't notice it. Way, way, way better crowd than Wet too. Amazing day!
Sunday night was time for Rain again. Got there and Reza was on inside playing the worst shit I have heard. EVERYONE was wtf is this? So out side to the pool we go and guess who is out there? Steve (Crapo) Castro. This had to be two of the worst DJs playing at the same time. Nowhere to Escape. EPIC fail lol. Fucking DJ politics. Ended up hiding as far from the music as we could go.
Went in to brave Reza at about 12:30 since Armin was going on at 1:00 and we didn't want to be locked out. Longest 30 minutes ever but it was so worth it. I took me about an hour to get over my bad mood the previous DJs put me in but Armin delivered a great set. The crowd was going off and he was eating it up. Up there dancing his ass off. And then we got Gareth who I thought stepped it up another notch. In the end, it was a GREAT f'ing night.
Rain did has some sound issues though. Midbass over powered everything and made it difficult to even tell what song was playing at times. I walked around the club and it was the same everywhere. At like 4:00 am someone finally figured it out and boom, all the mids and highs were back and it sounded great. Between this and the pool party sound issues, think its time for a new sound guy.
I felt sorry for some of my friends. They got stuck outside and their night consisted of Reza, Castro, and DJ Pauly D. I will leave the reviews of Mr D to others as I wasn't out there but everything I heard was negative to say the least.
But all in all, The Love Festival was a huge success IMO. I mean come on. Markus, Armin and Gareth. That's three of my top 5. Can't wait for MDW 2011!
Had the best roommates to boot with Michelle, Sarah and Naomi.
