Hey Henry not trying to talk shit or anything, but do you guys "work" with Motive/Fresh? It seems all the "smaller big" names (tyas, simon, moor, etc.) are all recycled from those guys. I'm glad you book them, but just wondering if there's something going on there?

When I say work with I mean contract wise and shit like that

Personally, I don't like psytrance or hardstyle in the least. It's what was played at every local rave back in ATL and I was never able to get into it.

That said, it's nice to see a massive actually book those less-popular styles. I know the fans love it.

Cosmic Gate, Netsky, and Datsik are a good start for me. I'm also waiting for this techno lineup to be released.

Henry might say otherwise, but I think it has to do with the new 18+ rule. Insomniac may not have made as much money on Nocturnal as they wanted to because of the new restriction, so they cut back on spending a bit. Top 10 DJs (their management, anyway) command a lot more money than people ranked a little lower on the list.

By booking the way they have, they can say "We simply wanted to make a stage for true trance fans since people said they're tired of seeing the same DJs" and at the same time they save money.

It is a bit disappointing for those of us who don't like fast, 140bpm+ stuff, but Insomniac is a business and needs to turn a profit. All signs indicate they have no plans of cutting back on EDC, even though it's 18+, so they had to cut back on other shows I suppose.

I don't quite understand why people think we would cut back on our biggest show of the year. The EDC 2011 line up will prove those rumors wrong. the beyond wonderland has nothing to do with money and cutting back or anything of that sort. It's simply what people have asked for...i always ask people in here for suggestions on DJs and it's always taken into consideration.

Well I just thought that with the 18+ age restriction it would be hard to get the huge numbers of last year. If Insomniac can create the same large scale set ups as last year I'm definitely rooting for them because they were extremely impressive. But if the attendance drops a little from 185,000 to lets say 150,000, even at cheap price of $50 a ticket that's a loss of $1,750,000 which I think might cause a cut back. It would be interesting to know the difference in attendance from Nocturnal and TAO after the age restriction. Hopefully, they haven't had a big cut in numbers. If you are saying that you won't cut back then that's great.

For Beyond Wonderland though, just make sure the trance stage is in the big tent instead of the smaller side stage like at the last Nocturnal

I said in my post that I don't expect EDC to be cut back.

I'm just saying with Beyond Wonderland, so far you have a less expensive lineup than Nocturnal, with the same ticket prices. I'm not knocking Insomniac for this, I think it's smart business. I'm only saying that the 18+ rule is definitely affecting the massives.

As far as 140 bpm.... Simon is 140/138 (he does have a lower bpm side too... I just think at Festivals he wants to drop bombs) and Tyas plays some 140/138 at times (most times)... He doesn't always play 140. You still have Moor and Cosmic (will bring the cheesy vocals and play exploration of space). I'm glad there was no top 10 booking. Do we really need to see Armin again? I love the guy, but idk if I want to hear a set promoting Mirage.... I mean, bleh. A&B was just out here, their set would be almost the same as tatw. Gareth has been getting lots of bookings out in socal. Sander is the same. PVD hasn't come since last Beyond and imo his set wasn't special. Plus maybe his Coachella booking had something to do with it. Schulz would of been cool, but he was just at TAO and Noct, so maybe they didn't want to bring him out for the third massive in a row...........

THANK YOU Insomniac for continuing to bring out Patterson. I remember at How Sweet I was talking to Pasquale about bringing out Patterson. That he even talked to me for how long he did was crazy because I was frying, haha.

It's funny Insomniac tries to book the "smaller" names and not bring out a top 10, but then gets shit on for it.

BRING ON THE TECH TRANCE. Greg Downey next!
