Free to air means that anyone with a TV can watch it. Cable network means you gotta pay to get the box to watch it eg Rogers cable.

Free to Air is when you have to use an antenna w/ tin foil to catch a signal

Actually "Free to Air" or "FTA" is satellite television, almost like Express Vu and Starchoice. Whereas "Over the Air" or "OTA" is the old way using the antenna for terrestrial television reception.

And I'm sitting here all night at work with too much time on my hands.

I think over here in Aus we just call OTA FTA. Same diff for us basically.
