Jeff, Graham, Rob, Margaret, and Tara are some of the coolest people I've ever met. I wonder why I like the people who have voiced their complaints here when those people are so "stuck up"? I guess I must be stuck up too.

My cousin used to go to the Guv years ago before she quit. The crappy atmosphere of that club is one of the only things we have ever seen eye-to-eye on; when she first found out I was clubbing and I told her I was going to the Guv, she made a little head-swaying motion and said "This is what you call dancing at the Guv. I stopped going because I got tired of being squished."

It's fun the first few times, but as Rob so aptly put it, most of us who've had the opportunity to experience better venues reach our breaking point with the Guvernment after a while.

I think a few of you are confused about the definition of open-mindedness. It's strange how so many of the Guv defenders in this thread who feel they are more "accepting" of other people have resorted to petty insults and name-calling. If I didn't know any better, I'd think you were just trying to prove your moral superiority over us "complainers."

There is nothing there to prove. All i have ever said really is that if you dont like it dont go and stop bitching about it if you do. You dont see me complaining about places i dont like repeatedly (and there are many). I just dont go!

What i complain about mainly is people who complain, and laws created by people who complain which restricts my personal freedoms. So like i said, my compliants are about complainers (and paul martin) LOL

Im peronally glad that EDM is becomming so popular and attracting new crowds. I hope youre not one of those people that thinks that EDM is "their thing" and that's what makes them different - kind of like the punk kids that are all anti-pop So that when its popularity spreads you bitch about it and go "underground" where the "true" partiers are...

I'm not a big fan of the people you've mentioned in your list of folks that attend the Guv, but that's a pretty far cry from reality, and you should be more open and accepting towards new patrons than what you appear to be.

it's not about new or not new to partying- it's about being polite and friendly and there for the music not just to get fucked or pick up etc. when i was a boa i was not pushed or shoved by rude ppl walking by, i met awesome ppl, not stuck up or too cool or undergroud- it was an incredibly positive experience.

I have yet to check out the magical Boa, the most wonderful place on earth LOL

Im willing to be it is a good time and probably as great as everyone here says it is. Which is great and all, but if it were the only gig in town im sure it would get old pretty fast. Thank God toronto still has a variety of places to go to. Long live Boa, Guv, System and anywhere else that plays the music we want to hear. Look at it this way, what would happen if Toronto turned into a city where the only options were places like C lounge and Plastique? Many cities around North America have only that and some dont even have that, its worse! Be lucky for what you have and if you dont like it, shut up and dont go.

Charmscars, ive always appreciated your objective viewpoint. One of very few around here.

i def. agree w/ you on this point. we are lucky that there are afterhours places that play music we enjoy. i'm glad i don't live somewhere like boston where the clubs aren't even allowed to be open past 2 or 3, yet we have several clubs bringing in world class EDM talent.

Charmscars: hence the reason I always site Torontonians as being spoiled rotten. People come here from places all over the continant and are jealous of this city yet all i hear is bitching and whining about guv this and system that and boa this and blah blah blah.

What i complain about here is the fact that we are actually losing these places and the fact that so many people here are so snobby and spoiled.

I often say that Toronto is a wonderful city in spite of it's citizens to which many people often agree with me.

I normally don't go anyways because IT IS ALWAYS WAY TOO PACKED, YOU CAN"T MOVE OR BREATHE!

Best party ever there...JUDGE JULES on a WEDNESDAY 3 years ago, Great tunes, Wicked hot people, no crackers and it was only about half packed!

Other than that, see ya at Boa or elsewhere as well!

Peace

Styles

The problem here seems to be that you're only comparing Toronto to the U.S. megacities. There happen to be many other cities in many other countries that are not in the least bit "jealous" of Toronto.

Having said that, I'd be the last to deny that Toronto has it good compared to a lot of other cities. I'm not complaining about the Toronto scene. If you bothered to read my last post, which you obviously didn't, you'd clearly see that I love the Toronto scene. It's just the Guvernment that I despise, and I think it sucks that such a disrespectful club takes such a bite out of the other smaller clubs.

But it's not even about competition and shady business tactics. I have a problem with any business that treats its cutomers poorly. When I get treated poorly by a company like Rogers or Toyota, I file a formal complaint with the BBB, and believe me when I tell you that the BBB just *loves* hearing about companies that are rude to their customers. I'd love to do just that with the Guvernment, but like many others, I know precisely what that kind of negative media attention will result in.

Guvernment treats its patrons like crap, and that's not right for any business. I have every fucking right to complain whether anyone is "forcing" me to go or not, because they're the business and I'm the customer and I've been given service that is absolute rock-bottom shit.

Why don't YOU stop fucking complaining about US? What gives you the mistaken idea that your constant diatribes against a fairly close group of friends are better than anything we complain about? And with the number of whiny threads you've started on the smoke-free bylaw, don't you think you're being a bit of a pathetic fucking hypocrite?

That is all.
