That must have to be one of the most ignorant remarks I've seen here in a long time. If you think early trance all sound like synth-pop based on listening to one track then you really must be stupid. Fact is trance today sounds much more like synth-pop than trance made 10 years ago, and if you had the slightest knowledge about trance from that era you would've known that as well. Take a listen to tunes like L.S.G. - Fragile and Terra Ferma - Lunar Sunrise/The Scream/Floating or in fact anything from Platipus from that era and make up your opinion based on facts instead of prejudice. Then perhaps people will take your opinion a little more seriously.

What did sine-saws and breakdowns ever do to you? Why do you hate them so much?

Goldenscan - Sunrise (Pulser 6am Mix), or any of the mixes of it for that matter.

They didn't do anything to me. They mangled a huge part of trance though.

That doesn't make them bad. Mind you, every kind of music starts to repeat after a while. But sine-saws in themselves aren't necessarily the curse of trance.

Flighty catchy melodies and other pop-like things are, whatever form they take. Sine-saws being the most common. Arpeggiation, which goes hand in hand with trance, can also be misused and blown out of proportion. Then you have the pointless breakdowns. This is not what trance was meant to be.

I don't understand what you mean. Shouldn't music be allowed to evolve and spawn sub-genres? Shouldn't tracks HAVE breakdowns/climaxes?
