The few that immediately spring to mind are

Motorcycle - ATRC
I never got it from Day 1, let alone the unnecessary overplaying

Randy Katana - In Silence
Think it got voted TOTY in 2004 on here, another one I never really got from Day 1.

Solid Globe - Sahara
No thanks.

I just think the lyrics are stupid. Plain and simple as that.

The lyrics are indeed garbage but the A&B Remix at least gives it hope...awesome beat with that. Have a listen on Beatport.com

its all about the Armin van Buuren`s Rising Star mix, and the Tribal Feel is almost just as good..

Yes... exactly. It's shit, but people won't admit it.

Ok, I would be the first one to say this, but still this has nothing to do with the track itself. People react better because they see their favourite dj, they scream even before he lays the first vinyl on the deck.

Exactly. And then go and label him the world's best DJ, when DJ Warmup before him got fuck all recognition for the same track.

Itīs because all the elitist who are trying to ridicule everyone who listens to the cheesy music. People shouldnīt be ashamed to say "I like cheesy music" if itīs true. Again, this has nothing to do with the music itself, itīs because of the conditions that were made by people.

No, that's bullshit. The Prodigy - Out of Space. You lose, go home.

What is this, the Godwin of all 'cheese is bad' debates...?

Well... perhaps not so final, but it's definitely the killer weapon in the 'ole cheese argument.

Well-produced cheese is cheese, nevertheless. The problem is when people try to say the cheese is anything more than cheese. That's when a track becomes overrated.

And cheese doesn't have to be well-anything. It has to appeal by all means necessary, and cheese in particular appeals by ripping off methods that have already been shown to be appealing.

I thought cheese means "simple, plain, dull" more than "ripped off". Yes, it could be both but ripping off is something which is present anytime, 98% of the trance production has some ripped off elements that were already used before. So if i had got it right, according to this theory, cheese would be almost every tune.

quote:
I know that. I received a commendable on Venn Diagrams in the fifth grade. However, all overrated tracks are famous. Otherwise they couldn't be overrated.

It's true that there is good and bad cheese. But the distinction for good and bad cheese is different than that of good and bad trance. Good cheese is just fun. Good trance is more than that. Unfortunately, for TTD, people try to pass it off as good trance, and it certainly doesn't fit that bill.

Sure, but good cheesy trance is still trance and a good one in some way, so itīs a good trance as well. And yes, itīs about fun, but who cares? Do all the people have to need more from music and does this mean that music which is only for fun is bad?

Again, this is about everyones experience. The more we listen to the music, the more we get the feeling that the music which is deeper, original, extraordinary, surprising, must be better than the simple one. And if this feeling is based only on the experience of everyone then it canīt be applied for all. Imagine, there is music which is much more deeper & original than the deepest & most original production we all know right now. If we had to match these two, the "old" music would be cheesy compared to the "new". The border would move and what was considered as "good" would be considered as "bad" but thatīs insane - the same piece of music canīt be "good" or "bad" just because of the limits that we have set.

Simply, you canīt blame someone else for having "bad taste", cause thereīs no good and bad taste which would be valid for everyone. Itīs individual, subjective, itīs art.

what scares me most is what you said about that the same tune played by a superstar dj and a less known dj will get different response. this is the direction i don't want trance music to take. that's why I agree with Ishkur on many points.

It works the other way around too. I know people who have been playing certain tracks for ages, yet nobody seemed to care about them. Then some superstar DJ played it once and it suddenly became an OMFG track.
