I still think Ronaldo played a part in getting him sent off because you could clearly see that the referee gave no indication of taking out a card but only did so when Rooney lost his temper like a child.
Well, Ronaldo just did what any teamplayer would do. His wink was uncalled for though.

I didn't see any other Portuguese player running over from 40 yards waving his hand at the referee (which is supposed to be a yellow!) and moaning. Carvalho wasn't protesting either. The red did not come out until after Ronaldo's interference and Rooney's unwarranted reaction. But I will always believe that the referee did not see the supposed stamp and only brought out the card after Ronaldo's whining and Rooney's temper tantrum response. It's easy for the ref to say he was sent off for the stamp because he can see it on TV but at least a minute passed before the incident and the showing of the red.
Ronaldo is ALWAYS doing this type of thing to officials. Every time he goes down after contact, you can see him looking toward the ref. He knows what he's doing out there.

i did, in fact im watching the video right now and Ronaldo wasnt the only one who ran up, but he was the first and he was the closest as well.
and how can Carvalho protest if hes on the floor with his balls crushed?
The red card was well deserved and you're an idiot if you don't agree. What Rooney did was just as low as Ronaldo whining for the red card, but a deserved red card.

I don't think it was purely intentional. He was being fouled for a good 5 seconds before the stamp and it looked to me like he was just putting his fucking foot down so he wouldn't fall (when that's what he really should have done to get the whistle). Carvalho was behind him...how could he even see the guy's sack? If he had just shut up, then no, I don't think it was a red card. But he pushed Princess and obviously said something foul to the referee. Figo's display against Holland was much worse (the intent is CLEARLY there) but somehow he is escaping punishment while Rooney might miss as many as 5 COMPETITIVE matches, which means he'd be out for half of England's Euro qualifier campaign. That's just ridiculous.
Whatever, it's old news anyway and I'm convinced England probably wouldn't have won on PK's even with Rooney on the field and certainly wouldn't have beaten France.
The point is that Ronaldo proved to the world that he has no class, while Rooney proved he is still a fucking hot head who needs to shut the fuck up and just play football.
