there's a shoppers drug mart pay parking about a block or two west
i wouldn't say its much safer that street parking but you're not stuck driving around looking for a spot

i live like 2 blocks away, that area is pretty safe

At cost (40) + bus fare I used to pick up the ticket (2.25) + subway sandwich I ate right afterwards (7.99) = $50
