Most people are unaware of this...but the manatee has an oily sheath that protects it from it's most feared predator - plankton. The manatee sheds this skin once a year, just before hibernation. From November to April, the manatee burrows into the mud at the bottom of the river where it feeds on it's own blubber. It emerges again in the Spring, with a fresh sheath and an appetite for seagulls and waste products (the main staple of the manatee's diet). The most intruiging aspect of the manatee's behaviour is it's mating habits. Rarely witnessed, it is believed the manatee has only a mere 2 inch penis..which it uses to render the female unconscious with repeated blows to the soft portion of the top of the skull. What happens after this is unknown, as the manatee stirs up the riverbed, creating a cloud of dust to distract enemies.

Well, it was a joke bewtween my friends and I after a weekend of partying a couple years ago. We sat around and kept making up stories about the manatee, talking like we were nature show hosts. One of those things that happens when you're tired and delerious.
