I'm in the middle of reading Michio Kaku's Visions. It's an optimistic book about the future of humankind. I highly recommend it to be enlightened on the possibilities to come -- fighting cancer will require MUCH computing power and the devoted resources of our unity. It's a problem that involves all of us, and therefore, the solution involves all of us as well.
Read more about Michio Kaku here; I believe he is one of the smartest human beings on the planet:

While his specialty is physics, the thing about today's science is that a problem in one field may be cracked with a solution coming from another. Thus, why unity is so important.
There are many kinds of cancers and perhaps some viable methods of attacking them will come years from now, but nevertheless, it will take a lot of work.
In the meantime, things like physical exercise, a healthy diet, warm and loving social relationships, keeping up-to-date with the latest medical developments, and of course, a positive mindset will help us.
