I thought Afrojack had great energy, but he got on the mic too much and full of tracks I can easily hear on the radio.

The new gen of DJs have no creativity on their programming.

It's almost as if programming has been dumbed down because the crowds lack true EDM intelligence (they are fed what's popular and do nothing to explore on their own to find their own tastes). It's a shame EDM has come to this.

Transitions are also not important anymore. Because the scene has become so producer-heavy, it's just track-to-track DJing while using effects. The art of blending from one song into another song is fading away. To me that's the most depressing part.

he got on the mic every 5 minutes during his set at EDC. As do most dj's at on the main stage of massives these days, bugs me so much.

I didn't mention mixing at all. Programming does not equal mixing.

The worst mixing I heard all night was Dash Berlin.

BTW, anyone see the crowd go to the Haunted Hospital IN MASS to see him? Damn thing was like 20% full when Moguai (who I thought had a real good set) came on for his hour set, and by the time he was done I was being f'n CRUSHED.

Then DB started off with his cheese and had the worst wreck I've heard in a long time right on his first transition. then his second one sucked. then it didn't stop so we left (which was an event in itself as people were still trying to enter in mass when there was no more room in the place).

Not a fan of DB's DJing skills.

Hmmm, I think that track sucks, lol. The vocals/mashup, overall, take away from the track. It just doesn't need to be there and it does not add to the track. The track is BETTER without it, IMO.

But it's a massive and I understand; doesn't mean I have to like it.

BTW, he plays wayyyyyy too many vocals; and shitty ones at that. It's complete overkill (though a certain group out there loves it and why he surprisingly sold out his first time in SF). And he's like that in clubs, which is even worse! That's my main issue with him. If you can program, I can get over some bad mixing (though he's REAL BAD)

The odd thing is that Dash Berlin is a group, and Jeffrey Sutorius is supposed to be the DJ while the other two guys produce. So if he can't DJ well, then what's the point of him being there?

I have high standards with mixing. I hear misses others don't.

But again, good programming can overshadow bad mixing.

His set was probably one of the better ones I saw that night, but thats because I got in relatively late and I had a big group so kind of just stuck with them in fear of getting separated.

Jochen Miller killed it though, glad I chose him over Markus (no disrespect to Markus). He even played Armin's mashup of In and out of love and Lost connection. Kind of made up for Armin only getting cancelled....naw not really, but still a great track to hear live. And I normally don't care for the decorations and stuff that Insomniac usually puts out, but the way they decorated the venue gave the event a nice halloween feel.

That stage was rocking all night! Does suck that it was very empty though, pretty sad... I was very impressed by Cassy.
