well worth the adventure to downsview. one of the best nights musically in toronto.

sound system was kinda meh but as long as you were in a sweet spot it sounded fine.

to the drunken dipshits who got in a fight early in the night and made them cut the music for a few minutes; kindly kill yourselves.

Nitin opened I believe.

Got to Downsview around 1:30. No line outside and a quick coat check. The sound left a bit to be desired, but it wasn't too bad in the sense that it negatively effected the party or anything. Great space. Good sized bars as well. It was definitely a busy event, but because of the sheer size of the space it never felt overwhelming. The decorations were top as well. Loved that they had ample washrooms inside and outside, and even a hotdog guy on the patio. Also, all the staff and security were really friendly and helpful. I'd love to see more events here. Everyone was in good spirits, I never got any attitude or saw any fights, just a bunch of people dressed up for Halloween ready to have a good time.

Now for the music. Sneak didn't show up, which was fine by me. From when I got there at 1:30, it was essentially Luciano & Villalobos B2B for the night. They definitely didn't play individual slots. It was pretty much 6 hours of tech house, as it usually is when they play together. I would have loved if Ricardo did his own thing for a few hours since their b2b sound isn't really my cup of tea, but everyone seemed to be eating it up and their were a few bombs sprinkled in. Seems like MTL got the best of Ricardo this time around. Left around 6:30 and it was still packed and going off.

Luciano played that stupid Brittney Spears - Toxic acapella.

Jeff Button was having the time of his life.

Great seeing so many TAs and industry folk out supporting this.

Kudos to everyone who put this together, Toronto was at its best last night.

Track of the night by far

Haven't heard this one in years. Luciano really stole the show for me.

great party, sound was not the best but if you were standing at a certain spot it got way better, in terms of music,l i really liked what ricardo was playing, luciano was just dropping tech house stuff and banging it out with some fast paced techno which was alright, i was still having a good time.

Set of the weekend goes to Ricardo @ stereo though, can't say it was my favourite set of his but he did wow me at least 5 times throughout the night, he plays some of the most unique music ever, don't get too hear that very often and the soundsystem at stereo is absolutely ridiculous.

I feel like Luciano did most of the work last night and Ricardo occassionally put on some tracks and danced around the rest of the time. Meh, I don't care, I was only there for Luciano anyway. I wasn't bothered about seeing Sneak so I was glad he didn't show up. I'm also glad they basically played back to back all night. Maybe someone can get Luciano back without his bromance partner?

That being said, I was really pleased musically. There were some lulls, but for the most part I loved it. The sound left something to be desired, but I suppose that's a warehouse for you. It was positively painful when we first arrived around 1:30 though. It was so loud my friend's hat was vibrating on his head and I had to shove wads of kleenex in my ears because I foolishly forgot my earplugs at home. It got better as the night went on, but still sounded pretty muddy.

God, the women's washroom was so rank. How does one shit on the floor? It's truly beyond my comprehension, unless you have some sort of massive asshole or something. I don't what is wrong with females, but they seriously have some disgusting habits and they take way to fucking long to use the bathroom. I actually heard some girl say to the security guard who was trying to get her friend to leave the cubicle (she had been in there for a good 15 min and there were 3 cubicles total) "Do you know how many people I know in the industry?!" LOL. Who the fuck cares how many people you know, honey? I'll tell you the answer: no one.

Did anyone take the shuttle bus?

Definitely.

I'd be interested to hear how the shuttle buses played out as well.

Really great night out for me.

I was happy to see Toronto come out and support this event, hopefully the 'Carnevale' crew has a few more similar events in store for us for the future.

The crowd that came out for the event was very good and the venue was really cool, although as mentioned the sound did leave a little to be desired of. Too bad about Sneak not being able to show up to his own party. It would have been nice to have heard some funkier housier music last night. Sneak's replacement Mario J was OK, i felt as though he could have picked up the music a little more b4 the headliners came on though. I get that he's an opening DJ but by 1:00 / 1:30 for an event of that nature and in a space like that I don't think that the music has to drone on as much as it did last night but w/e ...

The Luciano & Villalobos b2b was working for me up until around the 4:30 - 5:30ish mark when it felt like Ricardo went to a completely different dimension. He just started playing some really weird, odd & spacey tunes which took away from the pace and buildup of the night. Not what I would want to hear peak time in a large venue like that. Either way, Luciano was on point all night dropping killer tunes and I definitely feel like he carried the night. Hopefully he can come back to Toronto again soon, but this time for a solo set.

Again, as expected it was a quality night out and easily one of the better events I have been to in the city in a few years.

i was laughing at the luciano/ricardo onstage bromance but honestly i have no problems with an event like this with people getting messy as long as the music is good.
