i dont think you could say hawtin plays "minimal plong" these days - seen him a few times last couple of years and it was pretty much full-on techno every time
This is pretty much like every set I've seen on the internet.

Why is everyone so clueless in TA now? We used to get really deep, now it's Mr. Santos over there and Mark Anthony jumping in with whatever bullshit they think is reality whenever they get the chance. I have to thank Woony for trying but what's the point anymore?

These days I mostly like to sit back and just watch the shitshow as it unfolds.

It's gone to shit in the last year or so. Just reading Mattsanity's bumped thread made me realise that we were having great discussions only 12-15 months ago. Now the only active members are either the same tragic trance prats endlessly asking how they can bring back the glory days, and a clutch of inane dullards who can't make posts more than sentence long.
We should all find another, more active forum and migrate en masse.
I think one option to explore would be having Swamper create a separate message board, perhaps an invite-only one. I used to post a lot on this video game site called Gamespot, and one cool feature of their message boards was users' ability to create their own private forums.

LOL. Skipped right to the 30-minute mark, and it's literally plink-plonk-blopping.

Some folks here already post there. I've been tempted to as well, but I know I'd mostly just troll.

I think the userbase hasn't really changed that much in the last 1-2 years.
The biggest problem right now is that most of the regulars aren't making threads (too lazy or they think nobody will care?) and thus the only new threads that come up are madeby people like Mark and Matt and thus discussion is pretty much doomed from the start.
In the end TA still is the best discussion forum/site for electronic music that I know of. Everywhere else either people are fucking clueless about anything outside their hyper-niche or the site isn't really made for discussion. RA falls in the latter category, there's rarely actual discussion and if there is, it's a useless shitstorm with industry/artists associates involved. The only site that comes even close that I can think of is WATTM, although they are more IDM/electronica orientated.

That right there is what I'm talking about. Like, what in the actual fuck? "You like techno and not Richie? Blasphemy!"
