my preference is technics based on reliability. they are proven to stand the test of time, the gemini isnt.

with that being said, the next thing you have to look for is $$. nobody has said a bad thing about the gemini's (other than they are uncertain how long they will last) and if cost is a major factor, i would say go for those.

when i got my setup, i got...
2 - black Technics 1200 MKII
2 - black individual turntable flight cases
2 - Ortophon Night Club headshells + needles
3 - Sony MDRV700
1 - Pioneer djm500

for $1600, brand new

thats the point - they actually last that long. reliability.

they dont last that long.. that's just when they were designed

I have heard many stories of people that needed to get their 1200's repaired, so I don't believe the reliablility thing. And I have not heard of any huge reliability issues with other brands of tt's either.

Those gemini's look good, I would consider buying later on.

they are by far the most solidly built deck on the market.

Things like reverse play +/- 50 pitch, and all that shite are just gimics. i had the vestax pdx 2000 or what ever they were called and to tell you the truth they felt like playing with toys. I can see that the gemini and numark ones are built in a similar way.

Plus the fact technics keep there value for a lot longer if you ever consider selling them.

i'll agree that alot of the features on the pdt-6000 may not get used alot or at all but if you think about it, who the hell uses special fx in every single song? it would get old and boring. these so called "gimics" are just to spice up your mix whenever you're feelin creative.

"Super high torque direct drive motor assures you of fast starts every time
Torque and brake sensitivity adjustment
BPM/pitch displays
Reverse platter lock
Digital output and a wide pitch control range (+/-4%, 8%, 16% or 35%) for total music control
A slipmat, headshell and removable dustcover are included"

i would hardly consider these gimics and when did it become a sin to get more for less because thats pretty much what it is coming to. the common argument is technics are the best they last forever or everyone uses them. so what, these turntables just came out (less then a year old i beleive) how can you judge them so quickly, give them a chance.

i honestly believe that if gemini raised the price on these turntables to whatever 1200s are selling for then they would get more respect because thats how alot of people work. "gemini makes cheaper products so they must be crap" F-ck That!

Digital Output doesn't really mean much to me, good luck finding a SPDIF DJ mixer.

To other posters - I decided to follow the advice of every single person that I talked to, all of them DJs. After buying Technics, I now agree 100%, and feel totally confident to recommend them.

the pitch on the technics is dead on accurate, but that doesnt stop me from buying other turntables.
