you op an irc channel.
| quote: | but I just had to clarify a few points here...
first and foremost, my credentials as someone well-versed in the ways of trance need no defence. |
credentials? your vernacular is a bit off. i have a bookshelf full of mathematics books. that by no means makes me an authority on arithmetic.
| quote: | | My bookshelf (where much of my vinyl is stored) reads like a complete history (up till 2000.. when I grew a dick and shifted my focus to drum and bass *snicker*) of Platipus, Bedrock, Additive, Hooj (go cheese!) and the like. And I'm sure being the bi-weekly trance resident for almost 2 straight years at Wellington's (old Winnipeg club which used to be one of 3 staple clubs in our 'scene') means nothing. But that's not the point... |
i've met trance dj's that know about as much about trance as the kids that think darude is the flyest thing since daft punk's _around the world_. but platipus, bedrock, additive. seems like you know your stuff.
| quote: | | The point is as follows: Yes, I did ban him. He annoyed me by making random presumptions about me and my knowledge, and I exercised the rights granted to me by the great and powerful @. |
hubris is one of the most deleterious qualities a character could have. be friendly online. if you go on a powertrip when you have control of a single chat room out of millions of others on the internet, there's a serious problem there.
| quote: | | It wasn't as unprovoked and one sided as he'd like to believe..but had he had half a brain, he could have realized that simply changing his nick by one character (the ban was +b Ensign*! |
then why did you ban him in the first place? rejoining where you're unwanted, just like autojoin, is bad irc etiquette. maybe he knew that.
| quote: | | *@*) he could have easily come back on and asked another op to remove the ban. Standard IRC procedure when one feels they've been unjustly banned, n'est pas? |
n'est ce pas. yeah, i like being asinine.
| quote: | | That said, maybe that's asking a little much from someone who, after 15 years of school, still doesn't seem to understand the difference between homonyms like "no" and "know". (ps. www.dictionary.com - it's a GREAT tool) |
insulting someone's typing capacity on the internet... hmm.
| quote: | | Now, yesterday he had the option of msging myself or another op asking to be unbanned. His choice however was to threaten me with *physical violence* ("you're going to be a beaten, broken boy" he said) unless I bent to his desires and unbanned him. Like hello? Why the fuck would I let him back in my chan after he's just threatened to kick my ass and flaunted his being a "first year law student" like I'm all of a sudden supposed to fear his massive legal mind, too. Jesus christ.. grow a fucking brain. |
that's true. it's not very respectable.
| quote: | You want respect, you earn it. We've seen more than our share of your type in our chan, and we'll continue to see them in the future. That's why we ban in the first place. Grow up, lose the testosterone, play nice, and THEN you can come hang out with the cool kids.
-tesko.
p.s. not once did I say I was superior to you as you so succinctly put it.. but your behavior isn't giving me much reason to think to the contrary. |
hey, now, come on. don't start thinking you're better than others.
