I strongly recommend Fruityloops for any newbies - it's very user friendly, yet powerful. I am using it for my tunes now with some VST's.

I´ve checked out fruityloops and the free prog, Buzz.

I have just taken a fast look at them.. Buzz looks great with channels n stuff, the fasttracker look
. But the soundquality was a little bit dull, maybe thats fixable ?

Fruityloops had a great sound and was a quite easy-to-use program. i would like it even more if it had some kind of "channel mode" (maybe it has?) I think im gonna try it out a bit more tonight

fruity 3.56 and vst plugins. and yeah, this HAS been discussed millions of times in the production forum.
