In defence of myself and everyone else who thinks Damaged is borderline, I never said, or thought that the song sounded too 'charty'.
Frankly, I couldn't give less of a shite what's playing on the radio stations because the only thing I listen to on the radio with any regularity is ASoT. I've never been one to bash a song because it's getting airplay, if you don't believe me do a search and note my defense of oft bashed chart toppers like Southern Sun and Rapture.
The fact of the matter is that some people will like the sound that Damaged has, some people will hate it, and some people will be in that middle ground, kind of liking it, but wishing it was a little less over the top for lack of a better term.

Everything he does (along w/ AVB,PVD, etc) makes you guys blow your load. Like Dave Dresden said on these forums, just because a song is big, doesn't mean the artist has "sold out". |
You've been pretty selective in the threads you read if you think everything Tiesto does is hailed as the greatest thing since sliced bread here, he's been taking his share of flack for the better part of a year for his track selection and production values.
I also think you're trying to lump people into a category here, and it's just not accurate. For example, I like a lot of the stuff PvD has done, and think he's fantastic live, but I'm completely unimpressed with his new track 'Nothing But You'...I've never been afraid to say when I think a new song by any artist, even one that I really like, isn't that great. There are always 'fanboys' in any forum that will promote their favourite artist until the day they drop regardless of the quality, but there are plenty of people on TA that are much more objective, and aren't afraid to call tunes as they see em, regardless of whose name is stamped on the vinyl.
And finally, I agree completely with the 'sell out' phrase being a load. All I care about is whether the music is good or not, let the masses love it or loathe it, all I care about it whether it does something for me or not. I never said, or thought that I implied that Damaged was a "sell out" tune, I just think that it's a little on the edge for my tastes, the kind of thing that I like, but begrudgingly at this point, and that's just how I feel about it. From the sounds of some of the other posters here I'm not the only one.
