Yes I've read the specs, and being in electrical engineering, I can tell you that YES it's designed/engineered extremely well, quality product don't get me wrong, but $8000 still seems inflated.

Well there are no channel Eq's, there's a master EQ but that's it.
Instead they've given you a rotary HIGH PASS FILTER that sweeps from 30Hz to 600Hz, which depending on its position will adjust the cutoff frequency, thus allowing for certain sounds to pass through and others to be attenuated. The advantages of this is that you can be more creative because of the wide range the filter covers, you can do some funky stuff.

if money wasn't an issue.

Easy, use what the pros use:

Technics 1200 M3D turntables (friggin great, but not much different than the MK2 [I've had both - currently have the M3Ds]).

Pioneer DJM-600 Mixer (or the DJM-500) - pretty much every club has this installed, unless the DJ requests otherwise. AvB used the DJM-600. Aria has the Allen & Heath rotary, but that is out of the question unless you like to urinate cash. I will buy the DJM-600 mixer when I get a few grand to do so. Currently I have a Vestax-175 and it works great, the 275 is better becuase the eq-cuts don't click, but who cares - just use the rotary eq control.

It's great to spend money on hot equipment, but really if you ever want to club DJ then learn to play on standard equipment (1200s, DJM-500s or V-275s). That way you'll be used to the gear and will be able to perform flawlessly.

Plus, the Technics turntables DO NOT depreciate very much. If you take care of them you'll sell them each for a $100 or $150 less than what you bought them for. You can't say that about a numark or vestax deck. Same goes with the DJM mixers, maybe $200 or $300 less than you bought it for.

Re: Re: what are the best turntables out there?

Tables:

Numark tt-1 (old style) vs Techs

Techs better sound quality but weaker motor by 0.7 kg

although in the end it doesn't matter what you buy, it's watch you do with it, if you learn on shit, you're in heaven when you use better equipment.

Mixer, your prefrence, Vestax is good, but I noticed with one the on the preview right side seems to be a bit quieter, can't remamber the model, but if you got the mula, get a rane. Personal suggestion ... avoid using bpm displays if you're gonna get the 500's or 600's.

Peace

Hasn't jean-fred said that the new Vestax mixer at Aria is much better in terms of sound quality? ($6000 vs $8000)

Regardless, I'm sure they both beat my Numark 1002X - but not by much.

I diagree, why discredit a mixer just because it has BPM counter? sure its a useless feature, but it doesn't mean you should avoid the mixer entirely. If somone is stupid enough to actually base their mixing skills on the BPM counter, well then they shouldn't even be a DJ LOL

It's interesting that these mixers promote on the basis of "Superior" sound quality. What's funny is that a mixer has little to do with sound quality. Sound quality is more heavily dependent on the medium or source of the sound i.e vinyl vs CD vs mp3, as well as heavily dependent on the Speakers, amps and the manner in which they are setup in the club. So in a club setting the sound quality difference between high-end mixers is not even really noticeable. So why spend $8000 on a mixer when you can spend $2500 - $3000 on another mixer that can do the job just fine. Mixers have more control over the WAY things sound through the use of effects or EQ's. I guess it's like RJ said if you urinate money then why not buy the most expensive equipment?
