I own a record called Lost Witness - Song to the Siren, and Fable whoever they were did a mix of that and it came to be known as Fable - Song to The Siren. That was the tune Oakey used to play in 2000, i was there, its on his American album from that year. It then got nicked and put on that Ratty track and then at the end of 2001 it got used again and was used as Vengence.

Leave it alone! Lovely vocals though aint it.

what release of 'lost witness' do you have?

what i am saying is that to my knowledge the 'fable mix' you talk about never got pressed, except as vengeance, and there's no point tracklisting it as something that was never pressed!!

i'm sure tonnes of tracks WERE going to be called something else, but its the name they were given when released that matters!!

i'll grant you the mezz point, i don't own that tune (yet)...

i have the perfecto full release of ubik in front of me, and the track featured on this emix is entitled:

"timo mass - ubik (the dance) - old original mix"

the reason the track is known as 'old original mix' is that there was a new vocal version of the original mix done for travelling.

Never been released no.. It was featured on Renaissance Awakening that was mixed by Dave Seaman a couple of years back.

You've missed the point of my post. You have no idea how many versions of Song to The Siren there are, thats my points, its a fucking popular vocal. Vengeance didnt exist in 2000, u say it might have been a working title, but thats bollox cos there are so many versions of Song to The Siren.

There are also lots of versions of tunes that djs get, which never come out. If i remixed Lost Witness - Song to the Siren, and Oakey started playing it, but it never came out, would that mean it ceased to exist? No. Oakey got handed this remix, but it never came out and he was the only owner. This used to happen all the time back in the 90's, Sasha would be playing something for about 2 yrs and no one would have a clue what it was.

Just as proof here is Oakey's Another World tracklistings, of which a mate of mine owns. Its on disc 2. Another mate also owns a copy of Vengeance - Song to The Siren and they are different.

As i say mate, ive been there when Oakey has played it ok.

Disc: 1
1. Host of the Seraphim {from the Baraka Soundtrack} - Dead Can Dance
2. Majestic
3. Take Me Away [Circulation Mix] - Chilled Eskimos
4. Babe I'm Gonna Leave You [The Quiver Mix]
5. Ubik [Dance Mix]
6. Into Deep
7. Airtight - Max Graham
8. Bullet in a Gun [Rabbit in the Moon Mix] - Planet Perfecto
9. Darker - Bruce Aisher
10. Sanvean - Dead Can Dance
11. No Way Out [Highland Mix]
12. Bar None - Max Graham
13. Tears in Rain
14. Piledriver [Grayed Out Summer Mix]

Disc: 2
1. Music
2. Eugina 2000 [Progressie Summer Mix] - Salt Tank
3. Song to the Siren (Did I Dream) [Fable Mix] - Lost Witness
4. Back and Front
5. Flesh [Dj Tiesto Mix] - Jan Johnston
6. Rachel's Song
7. Sacrifice - Lisa Gerrard
8. Animal - Lost It.Com
9. North Sky
10. Silence [Dj Tiesto's in Search of Sunrise Remix]

urm... off your high horse.

i know all about the different versions of song to the siren.

i've also 'been there when oakey's played it'... and many times more than you i should think!!

i also have 'another world' (and every other oakey mix cd that exists) so banging on about this doesn't persuade me!

i think you are missing MY point:

vengeance is THE SAME TRACK as what you are calling 'lost witness - song to the siren [fable mix]'... but THIS PARTICULAR VERSION was never released under the lost witness title, so what the fuck is the point of tracklisting it as such??? this version was blatantly renamed before being pressed, and therefore imo it is the name that was finally given to the track that should be tracklisted.

tracklists are there to guide people to the exact tracks played by a dj... seeing as the official title of the exact track played by oakey in this mix is 'vengeance - song to the siren', that is what i think it should be tracklisted as.

i'm not gonna waste any more time arguing over this because imo there is nothing to argue about - i acknowledge the track may have initially been called by the lost witness title, hence it appearing on another world under this name, but the final title is vengeance. end of.
