NOT, nor were they actually ever! they were close though. Most clubs preferred UREI or Rane or as used at HUGE events like Trance Sensation and Trance Energy, the ALLEN & HEATH.

These babies have been replacing DJMs and Ranes in most of the clubs, damn things sold so fast that the manufacturer is saying backorder about 2months. DJM600 in our club has been fixed over a dozen times and it's only a year old, the club is only on Friday nights(2500 people) and never been abused, 'cause only REDsidents and Pro DJs are allowed to play out. Besides that, how about ONLY A 16bit digital effects processor which is something like 6yrs old technology, 90% of the new mixer have 24bit digital out and sound output is SO MUCH BETTER than the djm, that was actually my determining point when I bought my new mixer a month ago, this is what I got:

makes my friends that bought their djm500s and 600s just a few months prior to me buying mine, very jealous, Tascam mixer blows DJM into shredds.

you want a good beginner mixer, get a Numark, Stanton, or even a Behringer. For noobs there is no reason they would need all those extra bells and whisstles.

well youre the expert tranz.
Which helps me somewhat more on my decision.
I'm pretty much going to buy either: Pioneer DJM-600, Vestax PMC-37Pro or an Allen and Heath xone 32 (or possibly a 62). its just that I think that maybe the xone is too much for home dj use? Well I'll look to your recommendation. I know the vestax is directed more toward scratching, but I heard it was a solid mixer regardless.

yea and i even found a good deal on the Tascam X-9's. However it just seems out of my league at the moment. People say the DJM-600 is pricey, but this one is the real deal. For home use still I'd like a recommendation...

Oh the Tascam X-9 is very nice. Along with Tranz, I highly recommend it. I have a Rane 8z Mojo at the moment, and it's very nice. If I ever decide to make a move up, the Tascam will be the choice

u sure?
I mean its got a hefty price tag and insofar it will be for home use for the time being. Yes I'd love to play at clubs and be on the mobile at some point. Is it worth the price tag? I mean more than the other ones I've mentioned?

Technically, I'm a broken record when it comes to mixers. I stick to Rane right now, but I'd get Allen and Heath if I had the money. For a bedroom DJ, that aspires to more things (mobile or club), I'd explore the blemished items. For example (here's where I am a friggin broken record ):

1 Blemished Rane 8z Mojo 19" Mixer - 599.00 at www.musiciansfriend.com
1 Brand new Korg Kaoss Pad - 299.00 from same place

You've spent less money, and you've snagged two top items. Even though one is blemished, you can still return it up to 45 days for a full refund! You can even get an extended warranty To me, it was a great deal (this is what I've actually done). The Rane 8z is a club worthy mixer, and the Kaoss Pad has so many goodies you won't know what to do with yourself. It's all returnable, and, the best part, you have saved some cash. Again, that's just my humble opinion.

Out of the mixers you have mentioned, I would just go for the Tascam X-9. It's a great mixer that has everything you need, and more. I'm not very familiar with the Vestax, so I can't offer an opinion on that one. In the end, you can't go wrong with the Tascam or Allen Heath mixers.

thats what Im afraid of.
I always remember hearing. "Djms are the shit"
now im hearing "djms are shit". Thing is, theyre obviously not bad, but theyre dated. Unlike TTs where Technics IS dated it is the industry standard and the technology is starting to innovate but at the moment u can't really go wrong with tech 12s. It's just mixers that get me confused.

I'm also probably not in need of the extra bells and whistles.
But it is worth it in the long run? I mean ill make more money and the real difference for me is i'll get less vinyl. Its not a big thing, but its a huge purchase. If i just shaved off around 600 USD from the price of these top end mixers. How long would it be before I have to make a replacement? Regardless, when I do that Ill have to lose money on vinyl(or whatever else) at that point too. It's just rambling from me, thats all.

If the mixers are confusing you (and I can understand that), then don't spend much money and get one that works good. Get a midrange model that will last awhile (Behringer, Vestax 275, Pioneer DJM 300, etc). A midrange mixer shouldn't cost you more than $450.

You can test the more expensive ones in the meantime (like the Tascam, Allen Heath, Rane, etc). That will allow you to keep practicing, and also to make an informed decision on the more expensive mixers.

A true dilemma You sound quite torn on the mixer issue. Here's my advice, check out www.musiciansfriend.com

They have a 45 day refund policy. Look over a few of their mixers, choose and purchase one (free shipping over $299). If you hate it, return it for your money. Look at their blemished items (called "blem" on the website). You can find some really good deals. If you want something solid, no real bells and whistles, that will last awhile, I suggest the Vestax PCV-275. If money is a concern, the Behringer VMX-300 is another good choice. Both mixers have what you need for creative mixing. The price tags are the main difference here.
