Re: Bowling for Columbine, the movie

I just saw this documentary and all I can say atm is (not insulting any people here personally) but America, what a sick society.
This movie opened my eyes, I never thought it was like that.
People are all elements of a fucked up society, not living the lives they should live.
I know I'm gonna get some bad reactions here from people, but I post this straight from the heart.
America 17100 homicides, France 160, Germany 100, UK, 68 a year....
It's not the people's fault, it's the fault of the society they live in.
What a sick world, sorry, I had to say this...
I always heard about Belgium and mostly Western Europe to be the promised land, well, I guess I have to go with this idea...
Any reactions or comments about the movie? |
Great movie very insightful.....
Just be aware that not ALL of the facts that were presented are entirely true...ive read lots of internet sites, which claim that Michael Moore manipulated and changed alot of details to make his movie more accessible...such as the last interview where he pigeonholes Charlton Heston, blaming him for holding that rally straight after the childs death..when the rally was actually held 7-8 months after this incident.

While some of the things you see may be shocking, just remember, USA is not the worst place to live in, and most Americans are fortunate enough to live in a relatively peaceful first world country, as opposed to war-torn or poverty-stricken countries.
However, with that said, when the flaws of the USA are pointed out, it is shocking, for some, to see that the "number one" country is not as great as they thought.
But it is hardly a reason to "hate" American society, as all countries have their weaknesses.
We can criticize it, and analyze it to death, but things will remain the same for a long time. Just be thankful you live in a country where you can easily access the internet, and talk about issues like this.

TranceSeeker:
First i would like to say how ridiculous it is to judge an entire nation based off of a very small portion of the population. You condemn the entire American Society because of how many people. 17100 people out of a nation more than 280 million. How ridiculous is that.
In my opinion, you are just like Micheline.

I knew I would get some negative critique towards me, but I'm prepared for it...
I'm not blaming every single person that lives in America...I already said that in my first post.
It's the general idea, the general view on a country...
Like a guy said, teachers tell you if u fail at school u will be poor and weak in the future, what's the impact on students like u and me about that...people get depressed and forced to succeed at school, they think they are nothing, a worthless person...The general idea is that this movies shows u that America is a very manipulating country, they hammer it in you right from the start.
Those guys who fail at school get depressed and they shoot everything that moves? Why?
Yeah I already said this...
Then we have the fact that "everyone" just needs a gun there to feel safe (note everyone between brackets...)
It's not normal that there are people that need a gun to feel safe...
It's just wrong, but yeah then u have some sick heads who promote guns, and everything is possible, u can get it when u open a bank account, u can get it everywhere...
It's normal that a few people out of those millions are gonna use it in a bad way...
U know what I mean....If u walk with a gun in your hand in America, it's like the most normal thing on earth, while if u walk with a gun here, people are confused, afraid...
U won't see someone walking around with a gun here, never saw someone.
So the chance of murdering is 1000% more in America...
Not insulting Americans here, u can't do anything about it, it's the society that grew like this...
I just want a good discussion without the intention to insult a single person here
What u think about the gun thing..?
