I think you're getting confused btw the cdj100 and the cdj1000.
cdj100 is the small simple model while the cdj1000 is a massive fucking black brick which has heaps more stuff but costs heaps more $$$.

I've got a pair of cdj100s and if you just want them for beatmatching then they are great and def at least try them. If you want to do tricky shit then you might want to lokk elsewhere. As far as i'm aware there's no looping function on the cdj100.

why do you want a loop function?
trance is long enough as it is

sure long mixes are great, and you can do that with any cd player
you just have to beatmatch it quick and throw it in right away

and if you're just learning, you're not going to be doing 5 minute mixes anyway

I'll throw my thoughts out there on the American Audio ProScratch 2 ...

I've got two of them, and they are great. When I use them in tandem with my Technics, all sorts of possibilities are uncovered. The main thing is that they are designed for Turntablism. If you aren't into scratching and beat juggling, I wouldn't buy them. In fact, if you are bound and determined to get American Audio equipment, look at the PSX. The PSX doesn't offer the scratching and beat juggling that the PS2 offers, but it has the effects (plus a few more, if I'm not mistaken) and it's cheaper. Both CD players are very nice, just not the most attractive things in the world. Functionally speaking, they are great turntables. I am very happy with mine!

I've never used the Pioneer, so I can't say which is better. It's all about how you use the equipment. If you are talented, you will find a way to make the best of what you have
