'Tis an interesting topic you're discussing. I agree with both of you. We, as dj's are there for a reason essentially, that being to play to the crowd. Yet at the same time, we'd all like to play what WE enjoy, and have the crowd react favourably to this. I think the problem often lies in the fact that most dancefloors that anyone of our calibre ten to play to, are not dancefloors who 'get it'. I mean, we often have to cater to them, play more pop-oriented material, or more entry-level material, than perhaps the more sublime or artistic or musically worthwhile material.
