Add: John Digweed. The man is pure class. Was kind enough to let me get a pic with him @ DeltaHeavy. And @ the KoolHaus in November, he was kind enough to esentially shake half the crowd's hand, and sign shit after he'd finished up. He was literally appeasing his loyal followers for twenty minutes to a half-hour. Pure class.

And Mecha & Trancegeek

'Tis an interesting topic you're discussing. I agree with both of you. We, as dj's are there for a reason essentially, that being to play to the crowd. Yet at the same time, we'd all like to play what WE enjoy, and have the crowd react favourably to this. I think the problem often lies in the fact that most dancefloors that anyone of our calibre ten to play to, are not dancefloors who 'get it'. I mean, we often have to cater to them, play more pop-oriented material, or more entry-level material, than perhaps the more sublime or artistic or musically worthwhile material.

<--- Would trade many years of his lifetime to play @ Bedrock.

^^^^^^^^^ I'd say it's a balance of both. Play tracks people will recognize and love with a bit of your own style plus unknown tracks thrown in. It's all of that plus timing. If you got the timing down then you're set.
