well yea, but you know thats how shitty this world is..

You can go to the club and risk to been beaten to death by some guy full with drugs, or a group of people that dislike you..

You can drive a car and risk an accident with a drunk whore driver.

And now these days, you can't even work in a skywalker, you mite see a plain infront of you..

you have to try to know mystery

Your quote makes no sense at all. The phrase "It's proud" makes no sense Scooter did not make this up btw, it goes way back, and the original quote is:

It's nice to be important but its more important to be nice.

Anyways the article is a good read, its more geared towards bands though that have all kinds of agents and representation and studio fees. For producers who simply sign over tracks to labels this isn't really applicable.

i dont really see how this aplies to us that much (trance/electronica porudcers) for one we all have our own studio thus according to his numbers we can just drop recording expence alltogether + $150,000

only an idiot would pay $5,000 for artwork when he could get someone in college or on ta to do it for free

Mastering: $10,000, BULLSHIT... the mastering companie that i worked at over the summer a year ago was charging $800 a cd ...and they are the BEST in the seattle/NW area, they do Pearl Jams CD's.

i dont really know that much about the price tags on the rest of the stuff but im definatley questioning his data.

what's wrong with wanting others to hear the music you like and love, which you've spend some long hours on to make it sound the way you wanted it to sound...

but yeah it's true, watch out with contracts... but that goes for walking down the street too: watch the road before crossing it...

Nothing.
But it seems like that to some people here getting signed is the only reason they do music.

I read this very article a long time ago, 3-4 years at least, and it might even be pre-Napster. I wonder how much has changed since Steve Albini wrote it.

I agree that it doesn't apply as much to us; looks like it's more about hard market than niche market.

BTW you should hear some stories about the politics of cheese (DJ Sammy etc.)

We are currently waiting for our first 12" to come out. It would probably had come out already but there was some hassle concerning the remix that was originally going to be on the flip and we had to bin it... so right now we're waiting for the new mix to get ready.
