Like, give a trance CD as a birthday present.
When you get tickets for events like PvD, Tiesto, etc... get your friends to come along, buy their ticket the first time if you have to. After the first time, they'll get hooked and buy their own tickets from then on.

So true.....PVD came to town not too long ago and i bought tix for a few friends' first times, and we had an incredible time. Now I cant stop hearing, 'so whats some good trance to download?' (meanwhile im rejoicing that theyre finally calling it trance and not techno). So yes, devirginize your friends and take them to see a good dj! not a rave...a real good trance dj!!!!!

(I live in columbus, ohio...so see if it can work here, it can work anywhere! )

People are allready into trance , hell allmost 2000 people showed up to see PVD in seattle , and trance is not even that popular here (DnB House and breaks are way more popular) so Im sure there are lots of trance heads in NYC

sure, north america is behind (in general). just look on the boards here at how many people still think trance is something really underground and that says it all.

but for sure, there are also people in north america that is as "up to date" as the europeans. for example, a vancouver.ca fanzine back in 1991 (discotext) had an ad for mayday 1.

most countries that you consider to be upfront of the scene, you would have no knowledge of the music scene just by "living" ... what I mean to say, is you have this impression that it's all big and stuff in other countries when really it isn't as blown up as you think it is. You have to know what's going on to go there, you don't fall by accident, which confirms that the scene wherever you might be, isn't extremely big, well .... it's not that big of a deal anywhere ( even if it's true it's more out there then in the US yeah )

( hope you understand my reasoning )

hm saying that America is "behind" is making it sound like it's a fad or trend. America isn't "behind" at all. People just enjoy differnt types of music. There isn't going to be a single genre that is liked by everyone in the world.

Hmm. A lot of US TA's say they want to hear trance on radio and such, but wouldn't that just commercialize trance? Something that you really dont' want, isn't it? I think it's best that it stays this way in the States. That way, it won't be such a "too-commercial" issue. I dont' think that when PvD or AvB or some other big-name DJ comes to the US, the tickets don't sell out. There are going to be fans everywhere. If people like what they hear, they'll want more of it. If it just isn't for them, they won't listen to it. It has nothing to do with whether that person is "capable of understanding trance" or not. It's all musical preference.
