Wheel of Time started out good but has really gone downhill. Book 10 literally did not advance the plot at ALL (in over 700 pages).

I recommend Fight Club if you're looking for a good book. (Gary Palinchuk or something, dont think his last name is spelled correctly). The writing style in this book is like nothing you'll ever see. Fight Club is one of the few books where the movie is basically as good. Either way, its worth your while to read the book.

WoT is among my favorite series ever in the whole wide world. starting to get weak, but maybe setting up for something huge, the way the rand ended that book in shadar logoth...dude, you know you were reading a page a second hehe. David Eddings rules also. and margaret weiss^tracy Hickmans deathgate cycle.

Guys, if you actually follow up on Robert Jordan, the 10th installment did exactly what it was supposed to do. Jordan layed out his plan for each book about 15 years ago, so this was all expected. It's annoying to see so many people criticize his work of late without getting to know him or the story behind the story more.

^^ Those are great travelling books, easy to pick up from where you left of, and not an intense read to boot.

i havta read it for tok next year...so dont call me a dull dick martian lol. but na, i havent had time to start it.

NAKED LUNCH by William S. Burroughs.

This has to be one of the most surreal reads ever. I'm sure you've probably already heard of it, but if you haven't, give it a look. The book is largely without structure, but that doesn't stop it from drawing you into a world of utter disbelief and out-right hilarity. Burroughs has a razor-sharp sense of bleak humor. If that appeals to you--as it does me--then you won't be disappointed with this book. Burroughs claims he has no recollection of writing Naked Lunch since he was in a heroin-induced stupor the entire time while typing it out in a flat in Tangiers along with some editorial help from Allen Ginsburg and Jack Kerouac. Overall, a rollercoaster ride of a novel.


Also check out MONEY by Martin Amis. Amis is probably one of the most talented writers around. His books are fresh, funny, sarcastic, and dead-on. And all of this wrapped up on near-perfect prose. MONEY centers around a filmmaker in search of the "golden egg" of success amid a world of sex, booze, and over-inflated egos. In short, your typical Hollywood experience. One of the funniest books I've ever read. Great stuff!

I absolutely love Irvine Welsh's books, especially Glue and Trainspotting. Glue is better though.
I also highly recommend White Cite Blue by Tim Lott.
