Because in order for soundiver to work, you need to have

midi out (virus) ==> Midi in (computer)
+
Midi out (computer) ==> midi in (virus)

They send each other sysex data. Without these connections, soundiver won't recognise there being a virus connected to it. You're midi controller needs to be connected to the computer as well, which means you need another midi in on your computer. Because he has usb out on his controller, he can use this as well.

I spent ages trying to figure this one out. I emailed access and they told me that you need 2 x midi in and 1 x midi out on your computer for it to work, or you can have one in and one out and get a midi merger box.

i have an audiophile it doesnt work no matter how i connect the midi

and you have a desktop version so whats the problem?

I don't know what the problem is. Why ship out a program with the virus if it doesn't work. Some else complained of this in the access email group and they recommended he try midi-ox. I'm gonna give it a try and see what happens. I never thought that it would be such a pain in the @$$!!! It's just frustrating that i spent so much money and was given a worthless program IMO. I just sent an email to Access for support on Sounddriver. You would have thought I would have done that earlier. I would have but everytime I checked it was a bad link and no one is ever in the online support chat.

Have you guys updated to the new OS6. If so, how do you like it?

You have to remember that sounddiver is only a demo program. I imagine sounddiver is a little less temprimental. I agree though, it has some issues although remember it is free. There are a lot of synths out there that don't come with this type of software. Once you get it up and running though, it is a very nice program to have. Would be even better if everything fitted onto one screen. Its annoying having to scroll up & down and left & right.

Anyways mate, good luck in getting it to work. I know how annoying it is to not be able to save your stuff without overwriting other patches
