Thumbs up Sandstorm ... again

yeah wells i'd agree with that .. i mean the first couple of times i heard the track i'd have to admit that it did have quite a beat to it that would make it very easily liked... and maybe it's just that which made it so unpopular with a lotta hardcore trance fans.

I just think that it's a shame when a track that starts off so well ends up being raped and commercialized by mainstream clubs and radio and overplayed to death thus making it a sore ear ... well in the case of the scene in Toronto ..(IMHO). But I suppose something like that is inevitable when something becomes so popular such as that.

Yes, Sandstorm got overplayed to death and beyond.
There's no denying that it's a catchy track.
When I first heard it, my opinion was that it's a little bit too simple, but catchy.

Many people hate Darude because of his instant popularity, he didn't have to work eions like most artists/DJs to become successful.

Feel the Beat is not a bad track either, he shouldn't have used the same synth sample from Sandstorm though, he pulled a major 'atb' which is the reason why I still don't like atb.

Although many people and DJs continue to deny it, he is definitely good!

off his album:
Out Of Control
Calm Before The Storm
Let The Music Take Control

is proof of that.... and let's not forget about:
Blank & Jones - Beyond Time (Darude vs. Js16 rmx)
Thrillseekers - Synaesthesia (Darude Remix)

both are awesome rmx, the best rmxes of both songs hands down IMO.
Are they getting played though?
not really, barely nobody has heard about the Darude rmx of Synaesthesia, and that's too bad because it really rocks.
It's too bad for the people that are trying to shut him out, because he's gonna go far in the industry.

sandstorm was good in the beginning, not when every 14-year old kid started listening to it, trance lovers (either hated it or) got sick of it when it was starting to get popular, just like zombie nation and delirium... zombie nation is more than a year old and is still sold here in oslo...!! besides, all his songs are almost the same, just like atb and his first album (haven't heard the new one) and alice deejay and vengaboys... okay, now i'm moving away from trance, ain't i?? well you get my point, it's so boring when they all sound alike...

except gouryella and system f that is... :]

hrmmzz...

wells i guess that just goes to show that commercialization of Sandstorm has happened almost everywhere in the world.. (dunno about the US tho)

such a shame tho .. wells i guess that's what you get when ur track has such a catchy tune.

Yep, it's been heavily over-played in South Africa as well. All the dance / house clubs here still play it almost every night. The radio stations have killed it off completely. Every day you used to hear it a couple of time. Wayyyyy to much.

But this happens with all tracks which become popular, they get radio-killed.

The slogan should change from "tv killed the radio star", to "radio killed the music song".

ah true dat ...

too true .. wells lets just hope that as broadband technology gets better people will be able to access a wider array of radio stations off the net ie. Digitally Imported .. this way ppl won't just start liking a track after mainstream radio has shoved it up their ass ..

i downloaded that Children/Sandstorm "Remix" from napster... its hardly a mix because all it basically is Children playing, then Sandstorm starts up, then Children starts up, and then it does that until the song ends... and yes, Sandstorm is talked about and played too much, but I guess all songs that are popular and goes mainstream end up like that.

Question i wonder..?

what does darude think of this himself? was he thinking of becoming such a big artist, or not? did he believe that his song(s) would become such (a) hit(s)? and most important: does he care about what all of us say? i mean, he is after all making shitloads of money! wouldn't you've done the same? bet i would...
