as for chris liberator and dave the drummer, theyre acid techno.
and tronik is hardstyle |
As I said above Scott Bond just played at our club on May 30th, and at our private afterhours party I straight out asked him "why were you mixing in epic trance with hard trance" His reply was that though he is hard trance most of the time, his new cd has some epic trance in it and his last production "3rd Earth" is also on the epic side(He also said to watch out for Marco V Rmx coming soon). Also he said hard trance seems to be dying out very very slowly whereas epic, cyber, and upbeat progressive trance are on the rise.
as far as chris liberator, dave the drummer, and tronik, give those tracks a listen and then tell me they aren't hard trance. I think I'll trust planetxusa.com on that one, no offense to you, but they also have the other categories you mentioned, but listed chris liberator, dave the drummer and tronik in hard trance sub genre.

No,Chris and D.A.V.E are acid techno/techno artists. If you would call their music for hard trance to their face they'd probably a)laugh themselves to death or b)be offended.
I think these links should be more than enough for you:

Hard trance are represented nowadays by the likes of Uberdruck,Hennes & Cold and Marcel Woods.Take a listen to for example Drugface - ****master (Uberdruck Mix) and then compare it to a Liberator or D.A.V.E The Drummer-track.Both hardtrance?I think not.

Scot Bond... Hard Trance... Noway. His sets sometimes cross over from epic and uplifting to a couple of "harder tracks like for example Flashrider Mix of We Are Different, and perhaps a few tracks of the Alphazone variety, but he is generally an Uplifting Trance DJ.. and just as Jay said above, i have been to enuf Gatecrashers to know what Scot Bond is all about. And as for Chris Liberator, i though the average Joe Bloggs on the street with an ass hole knew that he is proper techno/acid techno. Same with D.A.V.E. And Tronik is one of my fav Hardstyle artists. He is not hard trance.

Picotto's trance period ended years ago.Last trance tune he ever did was Back To Cali,he's all techno now. That's why Cuttof responded the way he did.For proof check out his remix of Clocks,or tracks like Awesome!!,Bangkok,Freetown or Baguette. And as for being a hard trance dj,get outta here.Even during his trance days almost everything he spun was techno, apart from his own tracks or BXR-releases.
Svenson & Gielen are influenced by hard trance yes,but they do not make hard trance the way I see it.Beachbreeze was not hard trance,After All-remix was not hardtrance, and all their 90s-productions were not hardtrance. It's only lately that they have started to take their sound to slightly harder levels (i.e. the Lethal Industry-remix),but that still doesn't classify them as hard trance IMO.
Perfect Phase make hard house, not hardtrance.(well at least Slammer Jammer was hardhouse)You can easily tell that by the beats they use and those typical helium rap sample.

Ok I won't comment any of that. I'll leave Picotto as undefinable, however I still believe he is Hard-Trance/Dark Euro Tech Trance .. but for the purposes of this thread he doesn't have to be.
Svenson & Gielen, are indeed influenced by hard trance as you said Leaper and yes 'Afer All' and few recent remixes they did aren't AND I NOTED THAT IN MY POST. Some of the recent stuff however did get harder, and i still know they had some harder stuff in the past. I'm not really a fan of theirs, but I've heard few of their sets from the past and it sounded very much like HT.
And leaper, Slammer Jammer is more Hard house but Perfect Phase is so diverse in their work. I have quite a few sets from their shows in Germany, New Zeland, and USA and most if it, if not all, is hard trance.. but I agree lots of hard-house influence as well.
