I disagree with you. The dt770's do have a coloured sound, no doubt about it, but they also have a very high detail level. The extended bass of them is also usefull for making trance, because in most scenarios trance is played on systems with overdone bass anyways. This lets you mixdown and master with appropriate bass levels for this specific type of music. If you use a more neutral headphone (like the Akg 401 or 501) the lack of substancial bass results in over compensation, and you end up with a track that has too much bass.
I would not recommend etys at all for monitoring. this seems alot worse than the 770s in my opinion, the sound is very much coloured aswell. You do have a considerable amount of detail in the sound, great for listening to music, but overall I wouldnt recommend them.
I have never heard of anyone using etys to master anyway. Im curious if you use them for this?
