Happens everytime I do lunch at my parents...
But seriously, the digestive process can take 6-12 hours, so it's not like you're shitting what you've just ate (unless it's a liquid or jell-o).
But I do have a theory that sometimes when you eat something that your body consideres unfriendly, there are defensive mechanisms to protect you. You either throw up, or your digestion goes to "evacuate mode", so first come out some almost fully digested stuff and later comes the undigested stuff... (gross )
Cats are known to be very good at this, and it is not a simple task to poison them, cause if their stomachs detects something bad they'll just throw up.
My guess that humans also have some form of this mechanism.
