I'm trying to figure out to make osme cheesy/mainstream trance leads (milk inc, lasgo, ian van dahl, dj encore, etc). Everything I make sounds like flutlicht or is a supersaw or something that sounds really hard or its really soft similar to tiesto, ferry style leads.

I know what you mean. Getting really high quality standard sounds. Let's say you have some supersaw sample and exactly the same notes as Ian van Dahl, but your own work sounds not as professional as the one from Lasgo...

(1) You will need some "clear" sounds, not messed up with too much
resonance
(2) You will have to do some EQ work on your sound
(3) Good compression is important, too.
(4) Higher quality FXs for delay and flanger will improve
your sound as well

Many of us can get all these sounds "approxiamtely". We all have sound which are ALMOST professional. But when it comes to high end sounding, only few manage it to get this "pro sound"
with software...

If you have Reason check out at www.reasonstation.net RonnyV - Reasonstation underground. It has got exactly the sound you might want and you can learn how it is achieved
