Well I'll comment on really good older trance compilations..
Paul Oakenfold-Tranceport-as mentioned already
Summerbreeze by Tiesto
Trancemath by Armin van Buuren the last 2 are excellent pure classic trance, I still listen to them once in a while when I am nostalgic, same as Oakies Tranceport.
Another great comp is gatecrashers Disco-tech, in my opinion the best gatecrasher album out to date. And of course there were the first 3 trance nations by Ferry Corsten that were pretty good. Kontor volume 6 2nd cd was wicked, especially the last 10 songs mixed by Arek, really blows you away!!!
Thats all I can think right now for good old comps..but there are dozens more, I think those are you basic best comps from 99-2001
