The quality WON'T be quite good ...
The blanks cut with the Vestax cutter will have frequency response up to 12kHz ... to hear what that would sound like, load a file in CoolEdit and run a lowpass filter at 12kHz (Filters -> FFT Filter).
Doesn't seem to be worth that much money after all, hey ? Especially with the blanks costing as much as a normal import 12" and the cutting needle lasting only 20hrs cutting time.

just wanted to add some info about that system I was raving about.
It is called N2IT Finalscratch and is not by some french, guys. They are from the netherlands (sorry 'bout that).
And John Aquaviva is using it besides Hawtin.

There is also an attachment that you can buy for the Technics 1200s, you attach it to the normal arm & you can use it to cut vinyl. It's much cheaper.

As for pricing on the Vestex, I have the latest pricelist for South Africa, I have converted prices into dollars. They include 14% VAT:

VRX 2000 (that's the cutter): 6,988.09 USD
Stylus (replacement - I think): 426.274 USD
Vinyl (blank, to be burned): 20.6790 USD

So it is sorta inbetween what everyone has been saying.

if u want "homegrown" vinyls the only way is 2 buy the real shit... not sum fancy nnew techno (not the music genre) crap... got 2 a garage sale and look 4 a vinyl cutter..... brands are not important...
ive tried one really old one (from the 70´s i think) and ive heard somehing that came out of the new vestax.... older is better....
