How car insurance is government operated is a fucking joke. You can't even shop around cause no matter what, you must go through Insurance Corporation of British Columbia. They run the Ministry of Transportation too.

I got 2 speeding tickets in 18 months, both costing $115.00. Which is o.k.

Now i got to pay $350.00 in "Points" to keep my license. What a money scam!

And yes, ICBC are crooks. I can't believe that they can do that. Why would they make you pay off points anyways. They basically are saying that they are going to suspend your licence because you are an unsafe driver (for driving to fast). But they will let you drive if you pay them... That honestly doesn't make any sence. TI's rediculous that they can make you pay that much...

I feel your pain. Insurance for my car is 2800 a year... That + school kills me...

yeah i am from kamloops.. anyway, i know ICBC being govt run sucks, you have no choice. if they double the price, you either pay it or don't drive. which is funny cuz monopolies are illegal in canada.


but you know what's fucked? in AB where you have private insurance companies, choice and competition, the rates are actually HIGHER. crazy eh? ICBC is not actually that bad compared to the rest of canada, we have pretty reasonable insurnance.

however, it's still WAY to fucking much for what it does. $1000 a year or more just for the right to drive a car? which is supposedly so in case you get in a crash, you will be insured. but if you get in a crash, you have to pay MORE for like 8 years!

absolute bullshit. it's lynchmob time.

dude.. that's nothing! I've had my liscence suspended AT LEAST 5 times and paid THOUSANDS in fines and those points we all love so much

However,,, sice I started driving my Lexus I rarely get tickets. But when I owned my 5.0's IT WAS A NIGHTMARE!!!

I say save up the $$$ and go with the yorkville 520
