hey man dont give up hope. Everyone started from somewhere even the big jocks had to make through in a lot of cases on their own through making contacts.
I've read that even Sasha who had sent his girlfriend his mix when he was first learning and it was made a little over eagerly so as you could tell it was sh*t. This may or may not be true, but it just shows that he didn't let it get to him. Persevered, now arguably the biggest DJ on the planet, flawless mixing to his cred... Simply stated, persevere, because you'll get somewhere sometime.
There's no "secret" formula to getting into clubs. Me never being hired for one, would just guess like any other business, not to "only" send your promo mixes (obviously your best ones), but to give it to the club manager/owner/promoter or whomever in person, at least this way at least know you've shown interest enough to come down to the club, and they can put a face to the name when they get round to checking out your demo. And even that gives you a better chance of that happening if you approach a promoter directly.
You could also give some demo's to people working in the vinyl shops and let them know you're looking for slots. Many of them may be able to get you connected if you're good.
If you've got the dough, book yourself. You could start your own night with some other djs and whomever else in the field you know, set it up and attempt to get your name out and gain valuable experience.
These are my thoughts on the subject, without any experience, so someone will have to validate my pointers.

you just got to find them.
Im 17 in high school now and you'd be surprised on how many people listen to trance. However what I find pretty popular as I go on is house, its hard not to like since it can cater to just about anyone. I know what you mean by everyone listening to rap and what-have-you, its mainstream, but alot of people from all over tread differently. It's definately underground, so you can't expect to find everyone liking it... and people who call it crap (asswipes - to them anything without vocals is garbage even if its vocal trance they'll still hate it for some reason, go figure)... well you'll know whos not showing up now to a dance party won't u.

if i was to hold a party, u think a lot of ppl would go if i did proper promoting etc. i mean of all my friends, who all like dance/trance etc. . i ddont think they would go to a party that played all underground stuff they never heard and especially beats, i mean usually people in early high school go to parties, find a chick/guy and wanna grind etc. ..cant really do that to beats lol

I have been struggeling with the same problems lately myself...

It seems so intimidating because I meet all of these good Djs that are better than me (at the moment, i just started) and they can't even land a gig.

I have a few connections that could possibly help me in the future but it still seems like the whole industry is flooded with good djs.

My beginnings.

7 years ago I picked up my first set of dex. Just a shit pair. practiced my ass off and met people that liked the same. 2 years i did nothing but collect and practice.

5 years ago my friend and I started 'Sinister Projekts.' A mobile DJ crew that consisted of 3 DJ's. We started out doing a few house parties of friends. Word spread of us and we landed bigger gigs. We did proms, weddings and such after about 5 months of operation.

just over 4 years ago I was DJ for a friends birthday bash and a guy that i had never seen stopped up and told me he really dug what i spun and how i got people moving. he wrote down a number on a napkin and told me to ask for hamilton. So me being a major ingnoramus crumpled it up and threw it in my coffin. I wasnt very happy that the only number I got that nite was a guys...

The next day I opened my coffin to clean everything and I noticed the number. So I decided to call it. The man i talked with is now my boss. He got a call that nite from Nate who was a good friend of Ham's Nate held up the phone as I was spinning so good ol dirty chicago house into some breakz and ham loved it. Nate told him about the size of the crowd and how they were groovin with me. Ham was impressed and had me come in and try out. I did, he liked it alot and I got hired. It took me about a year to get my own friday and saturday nights. But I learned from an excellent DJ who was been all over the world DJing.
