Man so many syd.au.ta's to still meet. (maybe time for another meet up ;P)
My review of the night(taken from Here )
Halcyon:Space Invaders
Upon walking through the door, I knew we were in for a treat. Some blipy bloopy sifi music was playing and a few lazers were blinking. We were entering the space station Halcyon. This was the destination for the night.
Rushing straight into play with the Space Invaders game I set the high score(which would of lasted 5 mins), before being asked to make sure no one went up to Bohem. Down in the trance room some theme songs of space/spooky events was playing, with The X-Files and Red Dwarf being my fav (and only two I could pick).
Mangler graced the decks with some dancers escorting him to the decks. They then danced to his first few tracks. Once Mangler was in the swing of things it was time for me to go up and hear some breaks. Having over the last few months of Halcyon becoming more a fan, it was my duty to make sure the standard was at a level I liked. Lish was killing it. I stayed up there for a few tracks and a bit of a chat, but felt drawn back to the trance.
Upon going back down Diggs and Morro were getting ready to play their first track. I stayed down for what was about 3-4 tracks before heading back up to Bohem to catch Canberra's Finest Exports; Jeff Drake & Mikah Freeman.
I once again, had NO idea they would be that good. I stayed up and watched them for the best bit of 20 mins, and spent the next 30-40 mins just listening. Track of the set (that I heard) was 21st Century Fux - Sunspirit (? remix) and For an Angel (? remix). Watching the guys was something to see. With two mixers, and 4 dex(1 of which was a CDJ) going at it, it was just amazing to see how they worked it. They were throwing sounds everywhere, dropping in vocals over break downs and creating their own break down, all with a very break beat prog feel. They are the closest I've heard to the big man James Zabiela, and they actually reminded me of him The set was recorded so I can't wait to hear it again.
Heading back down stairs I caught the end of Diggs and Morro's set with tracks such as Midway - Monkey Forest (even tho I was sure it was Inca that got played) and Lost Lynx - 3 Seasons being played.
Next up to the decks was Steve van Strangis. He walked up with the Death March playing and a cloak around him, like the true master he is. His set was mixed as tight as I knew he would mix, with me dancing for a few tracks such as PvD - Nothing but you, System F - Solstice, AvB - Yet Another Dub. I'd used up all my energy and went up stairs to the little room in the corner, which turned out to be like a ITM room was crazy. Spent my time chilling up there with all the guys and girls, and also track spotting. Between Spang (I don't know how!), Nismo, TranceTasman, Ton-E and myself we nailed them all Delirum - Silence was the track of the night whilst I was up stairs, with Alibi - Eternity (NU NRG remix [think]) being a close second.
Liquid M then stepped up to the next to bang out the pace and bring things to a close. Starting off with one of Marlo's own productions, the guys played on the edge that they always do, hard-er melodic trance. Goldscan - Sunrise, Liquid M - Sound of Arena, Liquid M - Dreammachine were my highlights of my set. After they finished they placed on an encore track. From the very 1st phrase I new the track, Chakra - Love Shines Through. Everyone there was singing the track was a great way to finish.
Other random moments of the night worth commenting on is/are:-
The asian woman dancing REALLY crazily, and MAN she was good!
And Susan giving me a massage whist I was trying to play Astrorids. Man I was SO close to beating the high score. Even tho I didn't look distracted, I was :P
