Hm, I don't see why we can't judge 'at this level' on how good a DJ is. I don't not like Tiesto because of a trend, I used to like him, but since listening to more and more sets over the months, I realise his mixing isn't that good compared to other DJ's, especially his beatmatching (eg as 13am said Armin van Buuren).

IMO tiësto is a lot better dj than armin! armin's sets are always pretty bland IMO. tiësto's sets rule much more IMO! but hey that's just me! everyone has their opinions and they should all be respected!

The fact that he is an awesome producer!!!! I love his remix of the track Tears From The Moon. He is a pioneer. He plays new awesome tracers way before any other DJ starts spinning them. His mixing can use some work though

I used to agree with a lot of you, and thought Tiesto was a genious and the best producer out there. But latelly Ive realized he actually isnt all that good, at least in my opinion. All of my favorite tracks of his were produced by him with other producers, such as:

All the Kamaya Painters stuff with Benno De Goeij
All the Allure and Hammock Brothers stuff with Cor Fijnemen
All the Gouryella stuff with Ferry Corsten
Major League - Wonder (with Armin)
Vimana - we came & dreamtime (with Ferry Corsten)
Alibi - Eternity (with Armin)
Control freaks - subspace interference (with Benno De Goeij and Piet Bervoets)
Tiesto - Suburban Train (With Kid vicious)

Some of the tracks hes done on his own are good, but in my opinion none of them are really exceptional. for example:
Flight 643
Sparkles (It was only the Transa mix that was really amazing)
Theme from norefjell
Lethal Industry
Nyana

As for DJing I would say that hes not technincly exceptional. He can really build a set however. For example the Magik and In search of Sunrise series. Although the order on Nyana is in my opinion kind of sub par.

really..i don't know if you all have seen/heard tiesto spin live or just listen to mp3 versions of his sets, but i've seen him on several occasions and i can say that his mixing is excellent and he can really build a great set (evening).

don't just say his mixing is shit or 'he ain't all that'...come up with good arguments in stead of plain and simple bashing.

and the point made of different tastes...well put! But please, respect eachothers opinions!

I think that Tiesto is best at remixing other artist's work. His own stuff is not up to the level of his remixes.

And a few others I can't remember.

Oh yeah, Lethal Industry and Only in my MEmory are his best original productions (at least as far as what I personally own).
